I thought Smeg would offer quality and reliability but after 2 years – I want my old Whirlpool back! 😥 Sometimes the soap dispenser won’t open, often the cycle continues for hours if we let it, other times it will skip to the rinse cycle or flash the two end wash cycle lights and very, very occasionally – it’ll wash properly! The water does seem to heat up and does empty but can anyone offer a clue as to what might be causing this? If it’s expensive I might think twice about getting it repaired and try one of those the cheap, low quality unreliable manufacturers! 😉

    Thanks

Hi, could you check the flashing lights. These will indicate a fault code which would be useful. One light should stay on permanently and either one, two or three lights will be flashing.

I assume you have checked for blockages etc ? Mainly the sink waste or whatever the waste hose fits to.

    Regards.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave

We don’t get any error codes from the lights.

Since the dishwasher empties (eg if you hold the program key to force to end of cycle or put it on a rinse cycle instead which always works) I assume the pipes are clear enough. Would a partial blockage cause this sort of problem though? (I have cleaned filters and sump components)

    Thanks

Yes, if the dishwasher is connected to the sink trap, check there 😉

Failing that, it’s time to get an engineer out.

    Dave.
