ParticipantMy WJD1257W has started making a weird noise!
Works fine – drains OK, spins OK, no error messages, no other noises just a loud “chugga-chugga” type noise at various times when washing.
I’m assuming it’s the recirculation pump as everything suggests so (timing in cycle, location of the noise).
I know I can get a spare quite easily – my big question is how do I get it out?
In the good ole’ days the back panel would come off – all the gubbins would be exposed and voila! This machine seems to split in half, half way down the side and not obviously the way to get in. Tipping it over, the bottom has a large plastic moulding (the “stand” according to diagram I found) that bits fit into and very limited access.
Any suggestions as to the best way in and how I get to the recirc. pump with performing major surgery? Can’t find a service manual anywhere on t’interweb 🙁
Thanks.

Its really not that difficult to split the cabinet, most of the screws are obvious except for the two behind the small plastic, prise out covers on either side at the bottom. 😉

ParticipantSo the rear cabinet “half” is just “clothes”? Seemed to me that half the guts are screwed to the rear case and major surgery ensues to get it off – is that not the case? Is there some sort of internal framework that the bits are all fixed to?

Saves me typing it out all over again.

As a fairly competent (IMO) and time-served electrician for the last 30 years, I appreciate your patience and the absence of sarcasm in your replies… :rolls:
Could you be just a tad more patronising, if i ask nicely?
Maybe a simple yes/no is too much to ask for? I think I raised 2 or 3 points in my post… :

There is nothing screwed to the rear half of the cabinet other than the few screws holding it to the front half and the chassis and one screw going into the dryer fan housing. The only thing you have to release from the back panel is the water inlet plate which is just a push fit.
It really is so simple and obvious once you look at it closely.
Two or three minutes of a job, “Simples” 😉
Believe me, once you have taken it off you will understand just how easy it is. 🙂

ParticipantThanks, it didn’t seem so straightforward at first pass. I’ll devote some time and swearing to it tomorrow.

Blimey, someone gives up their time to answer your first ever post (and answers it in 6 minutes!) and you thank them like that? Iadom has the patience of a saint, especially with his subsequent answer.
Good luck with the repair.

Indeed, I do. Definitely recirc. pump. Seems fine out and under no load but noisy as anything when fitted. Replacement ordered. Thanks for your advice.
