Dishwasher fills and empties fine, and heats water fine, but when it comes to pumping the water around there is only an a.c. humming noise from the circulation motor, and it doesn’t turn.
I’ve made sure all the connections are good, and there’s certainly 240V arriving at the motor terminals at the appropriate time of the cycle.
The capacitor across the motor had a bulge in it so I’ve replaced that with a brand new one. The motor (disconnected) has a resistance of 148 ohms across it, I’ve no idea what it should be normally, but this seems to be about right to me.
I’ve turned the motor by hand and it turns ok so it’s not seized, although it’s a little stiff. I’ve also tried applying 240V and giving the motor a quick turn with a screwdriver in case I can jolt it into life, no luck.
So, I wonder if I could ask – does it look like it must be the motor? The replacement appears to be £115 which I really don’t want to pay for a dishwasher that’s already given me problems. Unless it would be worth trying to source a second hand one?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
