    Good afternoon everyone,

I visited a customers’ Maytag w/m today which was overfilling, and fixed the problem by reconnecting the vacuum hose which had come off.

The customer then asked if I could advise on her Maytag T/D, which she reported as getting very hot.

I was unable to spend much tome on this problem, but confirmed the dryer should run cool for the last few minutes/cycle which it is not.

As I have no experience on these dryers, could someone let me know if the thermostat/s can cause the heater to remain on throughout, or if I should be looking elsewhere?

The only faulty TOC’s that I have renewed have naturally resulted in the heater not working, and wonder if they can cause the above fault.

Regretably, I didn’t test the original TOC’s due to the fact I was running a little late.

I have done a litle research online, and ascertained Maytag provide a TOC kit, but would like to be a little more sure that this is where the problem lies.

    Best wishes,

The 10 min cool down is controled by the timer, just like most dryers with a mechanical timer, so that would be 1st thing I would check. I would also check that fluff is not obstructing the airflow HTH

I have just been quoted over £200 for the timer ass’y!

Inter-Spares are in the process of confirming the cost, and I am unsure how to verify that the original is faulty.

Wondering if someone can help in the above test procedure, as it seems to be such an obscure fault.

    Best wishes,

If you turn back the timer the 1st click should be heater off, 2nd click motor off. If you want to live test it, just use a volt meter on the heater terminals. OR, as I do, use an ampmeter, so can see exactly when, or if, the heater switches off HTH
