    😕
    Hi ,
It’s a common question but I have to ask it again sorry, winter is here in Orkney & the storm pegs won’t be enough to hold the wasing on the line! For the first time in my life I have to buy a tumble dryer. Christmas is nearly here though and money is in short supply , so I have to get the dryer Buy Now Pay Later from Empire catalogue, the choice therefore is limited! I want a vented reverse acion tumble dryer as large capacity as possible for no more than around £350. I don’t want White Knight and not sure about Beko, it looks like a choice between Hotpoint & Hoover , I’m favouring the 8kg Hoover or 7.5kg Hotpoint but what do I know? 🙂 It can be anything from 6kg to 8kg, no more than £400, not White Knight and reliable with cheap spares if possible, has to be from Empire though. It will get a lot of use in Winter (family of four amount of laundry) but little or none in Spring/Summer.

Here’s my list from the catalogue but I may have missed a gem, I don’t know:-
Hotpoint 7.5kg sensor vented dryer TVF770G
    Hotpoint 7kg vented dryer TVM570G
Beko DRVS73S 7kg load vented tumble dryer
    Hoover 8kg vented dryer VHV680F
    Hotpoint 7kg vented dryer TVM570P
Beko 6kg sensor vented reverse action dryer DRVS62W
Hoover 8kg load vented dryer VHV381

Many thanks for any help and thanks for reading. 🙂

Hotpoint ( Indesit ) and Hoover (Candy) dryers are both rather poor.

Strange as it may seem the White Knight vented dryer is possibly better than either of those and has the cheapest spares.

Not had any dealings with BEKO dryers, their washing machines are of average quality but spares are cheap.

Is there a Zanussi in the catalogue, better than all of the above.

THIS is the one I would go for from Empires web site.

Of course that could be a different Empire. 🙂

I bought the Zanussi above (after recommendation on here) – only had a few weeks so can’t comment on reliability, but seems to do what it says it will do without problem. Happy with it.

🙂 Hello and thanks for your replies, my first one was a PM from someone who said the best out of my list were the Hoover ones but not to touch Hotpoint, they said they weren’t from Hoover and they had been working on Dryers for 20 years or so. I was desperate so I took the advice and bought a Hoover 8 Kg Tumble Dryer. I only discovered via Google that there are indeed two Empire online retailers, one electrical and one along the lines of Grattan, Freemans and Next, I had to order from the empire catalogue that is along the lines of Grattan etc 🙁 . Frankly, if it weren’t for the interest free payments I wouldn’t touch this company with a barge pole, they cannot seem to c*ck up any more if they had a c*ck up training section! That’s my experience anyway, they already ordered me 2 of the same tumble dryer which I only discovered because I checked up on them immediately. I looked for Zanussi yes, but they didn’t have any, I read up on this site first before ordering, trouble is that these catalogue sites seem to me to be selling all the rubbish brands at ‘interest free’ prices with built in interest. I may try and cancel the Hoover yet if I can find a proper electrical retailer which sells the brands that keep being reccomended by you guys and if they let you pay in installments. Thanks for your advice, I’m off to look at a Zanussi, if not then I’m quite handy at fixing stuff so the Hoover should be fine! 😉

Excellent site by the way, I’ve been dipping into it for a few years now along with the Shower Doctor website which is good for shower parts and advice (no I don’t know the owners or work for them, I just found them a really excellent alternative to buying a new shower every time a bit of plastic breaks).

    Cheers.

If the Hoover does go wrong you will need to handy at fixing things, one of the worst designed dryers from a servicing viewpoint. 😥

Re: Vented Tumble Dryer? Got to be from Empire Catalogue?!

    Just to update:-

    1. Empire has to be the worst business I have ever used, they can’t possibly c@@k up any more than they already do, in fact I think they must run a training course in how to not sell or deliver. Every time I phone them they say all the right things “That’s all sorted for you now, your order has gone through” and “All I can do is apologise and assure you that I’ve sorted that out for you”, but when they get off the phone they must hand over responsibility to the untrained chimps who vaguely do something with my order and then go back to throwing their own s**t at the walls. In short after a couple of calls following an unsuccessful attempt to order online, they ordered me two of the same dyer, said to send back one because it was too late to cancel it, then when I called up after about a week of waiting for the dryers to turn up they told me both had been cancelled and that unfortunately that dryer was out of stock now.

    2. I went elsewhere (John Lewis) and went for a Zanussi ZDE47100W at £150ish cheaper than the inflated catalogue price on the Hoover. Paid for it outright and got the choice of makes, I went for the Zanussi because that was the message I was getting from those who posted replies (thanks for replying by the way, it’s forums like this that help me make decisions on buying stuff I know next to nothing about, it saves me months of research and I am very greatful) and from other posts on what tumble dryer to get.

    Fantastic, cheers! 😀 :salute:
