Is there a difference in the tab gap width of the the different versions.

I have a spurious version 3 here that is supposed to be a replacement fo version 2 according to Hotpoint, but the tabs are so close together that it wont fit into the drum.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have often interchanged Mk2 with Mk3 lifters. sometimes the Mk3 ones are a little tight to get in but I have one of each in my hand now and the lugs on both line up perfectly.

The only difference I can see can be observed from an ‘end on’ view. The profile of the Mk2 lugs is square whilst the Mk3 is angled.

Mmm… Thanks for that response Jim…

I took the drum out and tried again to fit the version 3 into the drum… No way… The lugs would not go into the recesses. Offered-up the version 2 and it vertually fell in.

Just food for thought for the future. I’ll make sure I replace the lifters before putting the drum together in future.

Are these both gen parts, some of the pattern lifters are a bit iffy.

The off white Mk3’s can be tight when fitting in place of Mk2’s but I have never failed (yet). 🙂
