We have a problem with the 3-phase motor on a Hotpoint washer Mod. WT960

On spin. it will run up for 5 seconds, then there is a click in the motor and it stops – no torque for a moment – then spins up again, on and on with this pattern, stop, start, stop, start.

We have changed the PCB (recon module from EMW) but no difference.

What is the fault, what is the click, and do we need to get a new motor? I have not come across this before. It is a C.E.Set 3-phase induction motor.

    Thanks

Looking at the wiring diagram, wires 1+2 in the motor plug go to a TOC of some kind. Not sure if you would have enough time to test this after it clicks.

There’s usually a second hand one up for grabs on e-bay due to unreliability of drums.
I did a quick search and came up with this. Don’t know if would fit and pulley looks rusty. (Check water didn’t get into pulley end bearing before buying.)

Three different motors on the 960, two on the 860. One of the 960 ones is totally different, the others appear to have the same number.

Is it the CESET [CIM 2/55 132/HP] 3 Phase Stator Induction Motor that is on yours?

If so I have one here

On the green label it has CIM 2/55 132/HP 3 Phase Induction Motor –
    195v – 3A – 800W – 310Hz – 17500rpm (and barcode)

Also a white label has CIM 2/55 132/HP4 plus bar code

Would the HP3 differ from the HP4?

Email me at mike@appliancelink.coooo.uk if you like George, with a price.

    Cheers
