How long would you expect a Hotpoint Aquarius to last?
Had one that in just under two years had failure of both circuit boards and thermostat. Then in a further 11 months had to replace the circuit board and thermostat again. Surely this is not what you would expect from a £350 machine?

    You’re right, I wouldn’t expect that.

I would have thought a Hotpoint would have broken down a lot more and a lot sooner.

As Bazza says, these are built with Indesit electronics – some of the worst on the market. If a component fails, there’s a pretty good chance it’ll take the circuit board with it, due quite simply to shoddy engineering and cost cutting.

Probably the next thing to go will be the rubbish bearings, assuming the PCB lasts long enough to wear these out. At that stage, sealed tub (yet more crappy engineering) means you’re best writing it off and avoiding anything from the Indesit brand – that is, also Ariston and Creda too.
