ParticipantThis dryer has jockey pulleys according to Qualtex and I need to fit a belt but only have the later belt for the M/c’s without pulleys. Ive been told I can remove the pulleys and fit the later belt is this correct ?

Why on earth do that. The earlier system is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} better, just fit the correct belt, part number 1741117.
I can see the sense in fitting jockey pulleys and normal belt to the later stretchy belt models but not vice versa.

Customer doesn’t want to wait for the correct belt Jim :rolls:
I know the old way is far better but the customer is always right 😉December 4, 2010 at 1:35 pm #337879Martin

What ? Never heard such tosh! You either fit a belt that suits the job (I’d fit Qualtex POL39 by the way) or you can’t fix it until a suitable belt is available to you…simples!

I’m as puzzled as Jim over this, but together we are old hands at the job and nothing ever surprises us. So, hey, if you’ve got a stretchy belt then fit it and throw those unwanted jockey pulleys and spring in the bin…enjoy! 😈
Remember : THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT:innocent:

On the plus side you will get a much quicker recall when the stretchy belt snaps or the bearings on the drum fail. :rolls:

I’ve now told the customer the stretch belt is not a suitable fix and she’s agreed to wait for the correct belt, it’s only going to be a few day’s anyway. I’m sure somebody (possibly a hotpoint/Indesit engineer) told me the stretch belt was now considered an adequate replacement, but I can’t be sure who told me this 😕

It might just about fit but by no stretch ( clever eh) of the imagination is it any way adequate. :rolls:
