I have a AEG Competence B8340-1-A (Panel also states 91 AGF 04 GE
    PAC: 944 181 793)

The temperature buttons are virtually unsusable and have got worse over time. Pushing andd wiggling the buttons will get them to work on occasion.

Had an engineer out through the extended warranty insurance but their repair limit is £250 and they are quoting £400 to replace the circuit board, they have stated this is part number 899-661-926-7801)

I have yet to take this apart myself but can anyone help with whether this part is correct and/or can be sourced more cheaply.

I am competent with electronics and was going to take this apart at the weekend to see if the button contacts themselves can be replaced on the circuit board in worst case….

    Thanks

I took the oven apart, but I cannot work out how to gain access to the push buttons. The whole top display section is removable and there are two circuit boards behind this. It looks like I need to remove some of the plastic housing to gain access to the buttons, but I cannot see any way to release this. There are no screws / clips that I can see.

I tried searching for a service manual for this model, but have failed at that as well 🙁

    any suggestions welcome!

    Hi,

Did you ever manage to take this board appart or fix?
I have exactly the same problem on my AEG oven.
I was contemplating to do exactly what you have as I also am quite competent in electronics.

    Best regards,

Unfortunately not – It appears to be a sealed unit and without a service manual I didnt have confidence on how to get access to the buttons.

I spoke to AEG, they said to get a repair we need to take out an insurance policy with their provider. Took out the policy, only for it to be cancelled since the repair is only covered for up to £250. They wanted over £400 to repair a single button! Ridiculous.

The problem I have is that we have two identical ovens side by side, replacing one with a new model will look stupid.

If anyone is reading this and can help with a repair please shout!
