Got to my last job last night and after repairing a washing machine started to push it back in and then pop from my lower back and a pain that left me unable to pull myself off the floor ,customer gave me a lift up 😳 and i struggled to get out the door and into the van, a very painful drive home and an equaly uncomfortable night followed . The wife has been visiting a chiropractor for some time now due to a troublesome shoulder and managed to get me in at lunch time today .Now its fair to say that i have been something of a sceptic but after the pain i was in i was willing to give anything a try . After lots of pulling ,pushing and manipulating i found the pain begin to melt away , i hobbled in and walked out im now back at home and apart from a slight discomfort i feel great hoping to get back to work on monday ,something that seemed unthinkable a few hours ago so any of you out there suffering from back pain who havent been to a chiropractor before give it a try it may cost me a few quid in the coming weeks but nothing like the money il lose if i cant work Cheers (the newly converted) Cras

    Good news indeed cras.

It could just have been a muscle spasm but you’ll need to take care and be extra vigilant from now on in. Move and lift things in a slow and controlling way whilst all the while bending those knees of yours whilst keeping your back straight as Nelson’s Column.

My daughter put her back out in January just walking up a flight of stairs and ended up in hospital having lower vertebrae surgery. 11 months later and, whilst she’s back at work, she cannot undertake the simple task of bending and touching her toes. Her recovery slow and painful all the while let me tell you! 🙁

You take care now pal! 😀

I think you’ve opened a can of worms here, especially in this trade.
I suffered on and off for about 25 years. About two years ago with two cases of sciatica and sleepless nights in as many months, I’d had enough and went to see a chiropractor. After about four sessions my back was so much better. I’d done so much damage over the years in ignoring it with painkillers, I was still having treatment for nearly two years. Cost an absolute fortune. All in all though, it was worth it.

    Re: chiropractor

What’s the difference between a chiropractor and an osteopath? I’ve used several of the latter a few times over the years with near miraculous results.
Last time was about 12 years ago, so it seems it was a lasting repair!
Yet a lot of scientists and medical pro’s say there’s no scientific evidence these things work. Makes me almost as sceptical about science as I am about quackery!

I think osteopathy is a more gentle kind of healing than that which you might undergo with a chiropractor. I’ve been worked on by a chiropractor & found it similar to torture, but it’s worth it in the end.

I’ve had the pain, tried Physio etc. Didn’t really cure it long term.
However this book was the best £10 I ever spent.

What I’ve found to be affective if your back begins to tighten up. Shiatsu back massager (Homemedics) with the heat function. Also Woodlock oil rubbed in after a hot soak. Chinese herbal shops sell it, or cheaper on Ebay. Clears the sinuses aswell! Above all, loads of stretching excercises!!

    Re: chiropractor

Just saw this post, i was advised to check out a Chi Machine from a customer who noticed i was struggling to work on her cooker hood- the odd angle you have to adopt you see- after some research i Purchased a Sun Ancon chi Machine and have never looked back.
I use it whenever i have to after a rough day where my back aches.
I’ve been using it now & again for 5 years and have never had back trouble since.
It a chinese therapy machine which works for me, unlike there washing machines. 😆
