ParticipantHi,
Does anyone know where I can purchase a ready built adjustable cooker stand for the use in repairing built in ovens. I aquired one years ago at a boot sale but sadly has gone missing?
Struggling with a black and decker workmate is getting a bit tiresome.
Mant thanks

Try AWS Services on 01603 412324 they might have some left from the old MFI days that their Engineers used

Tell me about it!:rolls: You have to have your wits about you all the while at boot sales, for sure. If it’s not nailed to the floor some shifty sharp- eyed sort would have it off you in no time. Sometimes I find it’s best to count your fingers as you hand over the money too at these places. They’d have the shirt off your back before you realise and no joking. 😈

A Black & Decker work mate does the job.

I have an old Hotpoint one, looks like a card table, which they refused to take back when I left in 1996. Done me proud it has. Bit too high for some of the custom height ones though :rolls:

Black & Decker Workmates here too ! I would be careful of making one however as you would need to be sure of both safety and loading capacities.
The last thing you would want is to have a double oven out/or in the process of removing such an appliance and find that it was suddenly pinning you to the floor ! or damage to the customers kitchen, you or them !Such an apparatus with wheels as has been suggested would need locking wheels in my opinion. An Office chair is designed for sitting in not supporting a heavy cooker and I would give that a miss but then its up to your own common sense at the end of the day. A new workmate is about £ 30.00 and we used them at Whirlpool without issue, but a decent square of hardboard underneath for certain floorings is desirable.

Sorry but it’s a totally unique, made to fit all, bespoke, hand-built piece of kit. Shown, in the illustration above, how it can be fine adjusted to whatever height required to allow the oven to simply slide out and back in again without lifting or shoving. The platform wide and deep enough to facilitate standing on it alongside the oven unit to easily work on the top controls etc.
Black & Decker Workmates don’t even come close to ensuring safe removal and refitting of large double oven units by virtue of the fact they only come in 2 height variants. Neither of which are suited to standard oven carcase heights. Resulting in the inevitable need to hump ‘n shove, lift ‘n drop and all the while the risk of damaging the customers kitchen fittings and furniture in the process. Just one little scratch or chunk taken out of some folks bespoke kitchen units, wall tiles etc and you end up in deep poo with a huge PL claim on your hands……I’m up for removing that risk completely all the while hence the trouble I went into making it! 😀

I’ve never had any problem with the workmate in 25 years, never taken a chunk out of a kitchen when using it.
It comes in handy for DIY at home too.
