Participanthi,
Just wondering if all belling cookers are ‘made in britain’ as i am considering the belling FSE60DO (in black) and basically is this a reasonably decent model? My washing machine purchase was a very easy choice the new model ise10 😀
thanks

Hi quickwash
Split your post from the German one and created a British one 😉
As far as I know all Belling cookers are still made in Great Britain and long may that continue. http://www.belling.co.uk/Don

ah ha found you!
hiya don,
That was me being a bit lazy there, thanks for link 🙂
I looked at the belling FSE60DO in a big retailers and knobs seem solid, glass doors slide out so easy to clean etc. This is a big decision for me as i have always had mains or bottled gas cookers! I have a new world bottled gas fs cooker at the moment, it is 17 years old and going ok, however dad has offered to buy me an electric one as changing the bottle is a nuisance (always goes when doing a sunday roast or christmas din, and when dads here, hence the offer!) also the bottles have doubled, yes doubled, in price in the last month 🙁
many thanks

PS – John Lewis are selling this cooker for £450 with a 2 year guarantee, you can upgrade to 5 years for £70 (and dads paying 😉 ) Do you think i am on to a winner, well a reasonable runner up for the price?

Hi quickwash
No worries 😀
When you look at what is on offer by way of other brands I don’t think you would do any better than a Belling.
Take the five year warranty as well it’s extremely good value for total peace of mind at £70 😉

Hiya don,
thanks for the reply and advice 😀
i like john lewis, their home delivery service is excellent, i bought a tv from them with a free 5 year guarantee included, in fact it was cheaper than the same tv in argos 😯
best wishes, happy christmas

PS – this model does not have a timer but that is not a problem for me, just thought i would say that in case anyone was looking to buy and needed a timer.

hi don,
My neighbour has a stainless steel belling, that gets a lot of abuse :rolls: Lots of mucky cooking and never gets cleaned but it is still going strong after 7 years 🙂
I have always tried to buy things that are made by companies that have been known for mainly that same product, like say, british gas for gas (used to anyhow, as no mains gas here :rolls: ) New world (for gas), cannon, rangemaster, belling (favourite for electric) etc for cookers and my bestest choice for washers, dryers, dish do-ers, ISE of course (i am No1 fan according to someone 😆 ) , you get the idea 😉 I think that if a company diversifies like many do nowadays, then surely they cant be giving the same sort of thought, money, quality, man power etc into each product? Maybe wrong but that IMO anyhow 😉
regards

if you do buy it keep an eye on the john lewis website
if the price goes down in the 1st month after you buy it
they will refund the differenceDecember 19, 2010 at 6:11 pm #339188quickwash

Cooker is ordered from JL with the 5 years warranty for £499 inclusive and arrives within 5 weeks, no hurry for me as old one still going ok. (I will be keeping the old bottled gas cooker, no way will it be dumped) May be recycled as a barbecue 😆 (actually 💡 )
Will do a short review in due course.
regards and best wishes for 2011quickwash :plug:

Perhaps a bit late on this but some Bellings are made by Beko including integrated and free standing and I’ve also come across some Italian ones. The way to tell a Beko is the serial no. which starts with ie. 09-12345-09 for year, serial, month.
Cheap and cheerful but the Beko is identical and cheaper.

Still waiting for the Belling, due to be delivered on the 21st feb, however slight problem with that due to resurfacing of our road on the same day! (as per my post on cooking etc forum)
I looked at the Beko range and could not find a cooker which looks identical to the Belling FSE60DO i am having, anyhow i think £499 for cooker and 5 years warranty with JL, who have a good reputation in this department, isnt too bad and i know i might sound daft (no surprise there 😆 ) but i would rather have Belling on the front of mine 😀 , even if it does turn out to be made my beko :rolls: .
Just got to sort this delivery business out now :rolls:

Hi all,
The cooker was delivered today, looks pretty decent :D. Very modern style, very sturdy and something i always look at :rolls: decent quality knobs!
The serial number looks nothing like the Beko, so you never know i could have the real ‘Mc Coy’ 😀
I will do a review when i have used it for a bit.
