    Hi Guys ,
I have a Hoover 1400 breaking my heart and yes I do have one !
Hoover VHD 9142 ZD 1400 Vision 9KG . I am not that familar with this series , I checked the Heater Element When I metered and it seemed ok but when I took it out it was bunged up with limescale and was burned on a few spots . Anyway I fitted a new one and still no motor action ! It has a brushless motor so I don’t know where to go next . Filling emptying is fine and the minuite counter is counting down so the timer thinks all is ok.
    Thanks for any help.
    Maurice.

If memory serves, there is a pcb separate to the main control module which I think is a voltage inverter. Locate and check for dry joints.

pcb is a favourite culprit, often caused by the motor – look on the secondary main module in the rhs at the top – not the display one.

burnouts on these are pretty obvious

thanks for both suggestions Guys , I checked both PCBs and not any sign of a dry joint so I ran around the bord with the Iron and redid anything that looked faded , checked leads I even gave it a big Hug but this is one for the Scrap heap .
BTW , what is the red box shaped component on the floor of the cabinate under the motor ? A capacitor in disguise ?

It’s an INDUCTOR, a kind of mains filter for the motor. If that goes open circuit the motor won’t work. 😉
