ParticipantHi, I’m looking to buy an electrical cooker, freestanding. I am trying to decide if IKEA UDDEN cooker is worth a risk as it looks quite nice and is £349. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70151458
Has anyone any experience of this cooker? I’d like a range cooker in an ideal world but no space and this looks better than the usual electrical cookers. Or, a SMEG SUK61CMX5, Electric Cooker, Stainless Steel which is twice the price. http://www.johnlewis.com/231085148/Product.aspx

i personally would stay away from smegs, they are all style over quality.
especially for the price they are.

Participantreally? care to elaborate? anyone with similar experiences
how about stoves 61EDO? or Bosch HCE543250B? i’m really looking for a nice looking freestanding electric cooker, single oven or with additional grill. we’re a family of 3. am moving house next week so any suggestions would be useful for the post xmas sales, if any, otherwise it’ll be takeouts for us for a while.

I sell lots of Smeg appliances, no real issues, spares readily available and all repairs done by independants, worth buying in my opinion and above average build quality.

Well I’ve had a past experience with? I bought several appliances from a website, and I think they have got a good collection of electric cookers… Affordable prices and with high quality… So yeah, maybe you will find what suits u there :).

dont get me wrong, smegs are physically solid, but my experience of smegs are expensive parts and poor quality selector switches. and 6 weeks to get hold of if they arent in the country (more than occasionally) plus everybody who ive replaced or repaired smegs have said they dont cook as well as they expected them to. i actually replaced a smeg df 60cm d/o with a cheapy new world df60dss as property was being sold in about a years time, and went we went to look at their washer a few months later they reckoned it cooked better than the smeg…, replaced a smeg a2 with a rangemaster, range master is absolutely loved to bits, sorry but i just dont think smeg are justifiable for what they cost…
the stoves 61edo is a nice machine, but expensive, a belling is virtually identical without the style factor.
id personally avoid a single oven ceramic hob cooker, as the grill tends to get greased up, and then the odd occasion you use it, it will smoke the kitchen out. as far as uk markets go a ceramic 60 d/o cooker is the best value for money, as its the most popular format 🙂

Hello there,
Well I never really tried IKEA, but aboutt SMEG, guess I’ve read many complains from people arround here…So maybe you shouldn’t take a move now that you’d regret later… Search more, you’ll surely find better. Good luck. -
