ParticipantHi,
My Dishwasher (I think the brand is Lamorna and I’ve had it for nearly two years) seems to have a problem-
I program it, shut the door, it then seems to fill with water and make a few noises as if it’s starting to work. After about a minute it seems to just stop and there’s a faint buzzing noise, the tray will have water in it so I hold the start button down to start a draining process, and this works fine.I’ve been looking on here for similar problems and I’ve had a bit of a go at mending it but now I’m thinking it could be a big problem (although i hope not).
Please help!!!!
Rob

It is likely to be either something jamned in the circulating pump or else the circulating pump has seized – Unplug before you look please.

Cheers, – How fast is that reply!
I’ll have a look (power off of course),
Where do I start – I’ve already had it apart so know roughly what I’m looking at but could do with knowing how I could tell it’s knackered.

With the machine unplugged identify the wash pump and try to rotate it by hand (or rather carefully by screwdriver through the end frame).
If there is no sign of any leakage through the pump seals (water marks at the very bottom of it) then you may well have something in there so stripping it apart would get the object out but if there is a slight leak there then the seal has failed and the pump is seizing as a result.
If it is seizing then forcing the pump to rotate will get it running for a while but it will need replacing….

Tried turning the pump – it moves but is quite stiff- Should it be?
I’ve pushed it around a couple off times put everything back together and tried again no improvment though.
what to do now?

Next step is to remove the pump and disassemble…look for the lock tab then rotate the chamber off the pump. You’ll need to unscrew the impellor to get it right off, this separates the mechanical bit from the electrical bit.
Try to rotate the electrical bit, if it’s stiff you will need a pump and impellor kit, and you will probably notice the tell-tale leak that’s caused the problem 😉
