ParticipantWent to one of these ( 14 months old )this morning for an insurance co. and find that the harness going through the top of the left hand fridge door has shorted, it seems to be a known fault as there are a couple of posts in the public forums regarding this.
Two questions i want to ask, is this cable from the top pcb that goes into the LH fridge door available as a spare or is it a new door and secondly will this cable shorting out have damaged the pcb.I have disconnected the cable and the appliance seems to work at the moment.

You’re correct Jim, Being a careful sod I took a picture of the rating plate and I have just noticed that the number i posted is the “type” number. Model number is FF4D(UK)
I also meant to say earlier that the harness going through the door is just a piece of 5a black 3 core, I can imagine these being an earner from now on 😆

As this is the Indesit Company you just knew it was going to be a complete door didn’t you. 😥
Seems to be five varients, possibly colour differences.FF4DKUK, FF4DKTVZUK, FF4DSBUK, FF4DXUK & FF4DXTUK. Might need commercial code to be sure of correct part number.
They appear to be around £85.00 ex vat.

I suspected it would be a door as soon as I looked at it. :snig:
I assume the code is 81541630300 and and the full model number is FF4DXUK, do you have a part number for this please Jim?
thanks
John

Door left is C00265429, right is C00265430. commercial code is 54163.
There is also a note that says the door magnets must be swapped over from the old door.

Magnets?? are there 2. I assume they are hiding behind the trim at the top or bottom of the door.

Hi Helo_75,
I saw the bulletin and the one I have is does not need the hinge cover, the bulletin says that the cover should be fitted on products before serial number 906020001. The one I have is well after that and according to the bulletin I have the new cover( which appears to still cause the problem ).
The pcb is at the top and I checked this afternoon with the customer and the fridge freezer is working fine now that the wires to the door are disconnected.
Thanks
John

I have got one of these now, can anyone tell me what the wires into the door actually do as there is no control or icemaker in the door. Assume, as John found in 2011 its a complete door to repair?

Any problems with the door cable contact indesit as its officially a recall and listed on Recall UK website, should be a FOC repair
It powers the heater on the LH door, the flat bar that flips when its closed to prevent condensation forming.

Is the model in question that the recall is still ongoing? Just that I have a customer this morning who have exactly the same problem. I disconnected the plug from the door. I am aware that a new door is the solution but the question is who is replacing the door and who pays for it? Is it me to replace the door and charge the customer or Hotpoint to replace it free of charge? I checked on Hotpoint website it doesn’t show that it’s ongoing issue despite the unit being 6/7 years old.
If I am to replace the door, can you help with identifying the wording of the description, the door in question is silver, I am assuming is the inox rather than shiny black?

Would need the full commercial code to identify correct parts.
Would also suspect that if it was originally part of a safety modification then it should still be referred back to Hotpoint (Whirlpool) .
You might find that after all this time that a concessional replacement mat be offered though.
