Completes full wash cycle, but on pulling out the dispensing drawer, the fabric softener section is still full. The odd occasion, the softener has emptied. As stated, softener sometimes does go down and i thin the liquid too.
Have pulled drawer out and cleaned the holes. All clear. Pouring water into drawer, the capillary action is fine and the softener flows away.
Will admit that we have opened the machine top and seen that there is a solenoid attached to the drawer.
Would that be the next place to put the blame and pay out £32 for this or would you pros look elsewhere first.????January 9, 2011 at 3:49 pm #340596Martin

OK, just to put this to bed lest you open more threads on the subject…. It “sometimes does go down” so all is not lost here. Therefore it’s either : –
A) Clogged with limescale, needs stripping out and cleaning.
B) Poor water pressure, or water inlet valve filter blocked with debris needing cleaning.
or
C) Dispenser cavity so scaled-up and in need of replacement.HTH?:D

So I thought we had it sorted. Photo below.
Machine fills really quickly via drawer compartment C on start-up, so I assume water pressure fine.
I always put liquid into a ball directly into drum, so compartment A isn’t often used.
But my diluted fabric softener has stayed in the drawer, compartment B, once again.Martin wrote:Therefore it’s either : –
A) Clogged with limescale, needs stripping out and cleaning. Taken apart and ALL clear and clean
B) Poor water pressure, or water inlet valve filter blocked with debris needing cleaning. Water pressure seems fine and very strong when flowing in at start of cycle via compartment C
C) Dispenser cavity so scaled-up and in need of replacement. Sorry, which part is the dispenser cavity???
HTH? 😀 >>>> Helps a little, but not quite there
The whole chamber that the drawer sits in was removed and thoroughly cleaned by me, that is why we questioned the solenoid not opening the inlets at the correct amount, so perhaps low pressure into compartment B owing to defective solenoid????? Is that possible problem????

Fabric softener is to woman, what English breakfast, pizza, curry etc is to man.
We need some colesterol and can’t always do without. 😉January 10, 2011 at 10:02 am #340600quickwash

Hi gazzap,
I am a woman 😀
I used to use softener until about 5 years ago when a 💡 came into my head about what was in it and what it must be doing to my machine 😯 (this isnt just my opinion either, i think most engineers would agree with me on this one 🙂 )
I use Ariel normal and colour and both make the clothes smell lovely 😀
I dont like my towels too soft as they dont dry you so well IMO but that is personal preference really.
Good luck with getting your problem sorted, unless you can persuade the lovely lady to give up her pizza and curries 😆

SUCCESS. Decided to take a chance on a DIY repair and spend £25 on the part from the Whitegoods Spares page and HURRAY.
The water now gushes into all three compartments like the Niagra Falls.CJAPeterborough wrote:
Either water not getting into the chamber or the syphoning of the conditioner being restricted on its way out.
The AEG may also have a seperate valve to control the water inlet for the conditioner and from memory the design is comparatively complex.
If cleaning doesnt work it may be expensive to fix. Thanks for all the help and suggestions of where to look. And so lucky it ended up being a cheap repair this time.
