I have an ISE, AW23 washing machine and getting a new kitchen. Is it possible to convert/upgrade this machine to be a built in washing machine? Can panels on the machine be swapped?

    Cost?

    Hi Gerard,

There ar no panels available to do that and, there isn’t for any freestanding washing machine (or pretty much anything else) as the actual carcasses are totally different for an integrated or built in appliance.

If you get a wide enough work surface you can put the machine in a cupboard and have a pseudo-integrated machine – just make sure the plinth is done in a separate section so that you, or your repairer, can access it easily.

Seen this done many time and in many ways I think it’s preferable to integrated as you rarely want to change a washing machine and kitchen at the same time – this way it saves all the hassle of fitting a new integrated machine into an old kitchen in the future.

A quick word of advice if you’re planning a fitted kitchen…

My machine just broke and I spent around a week trying to get it out of it’s slot! Make sure your builders leave enough space around the appliance so that you can remove it easily. And make sure you have access to the plug and hoses. Being boxed in by the back of cupboards looks nice and tidy, but is a complete nightmare when you need to get at them!
