ParticipantHi, I have acquired the above tumble dryer from a friend. It appeared to be doing everything but drying the clothes. I looked on this forum and as a result I have replaced the two thermostats at the back and the one at the front inside the door.
The machine is still not drying anything.
When I start the machine on a 20 minute timed cycle, the element on the back heats up ( I have burned my hand on the cover), the Active and Drying lights come on. With 10 minutes to go the drying light turns off and the active light remains, the machine cools down.
Once the cycle is complete the active light stays on the drum, tumbles a couple of times every 5 minutes and it beeps.
So it all appears good but the contents are still cold and wet at the end……?
Does anyone have any ideas to help.January 13, 2011 at 10:07 pm #341040suedehead1

hve you cleaned the condenser and filter?
20 minutes isnt long enough to dry a load of clothes.January 13, 2011 at 10:10 pm #341041gappage

Thanks for the response. The condenser and the filter are both spotless. I only put two small towels in the machine to test it and they didnt seem to dry at all.
Its just like the warm air isnt making it into the drum – is there another fan that draws the air in?January 13, 2011 at 10:13 pm #341042iadom

As my learned friend has said if you set it to 20 mins drying it will only heat for ten minutes and then tumble cool for ten minutes. Also it only uses one half of the heating element on timed dry.
To use the machine correctly you should use the autodry functions or set it for much longer.
If for instance you put a decent load of something like towels in at this time of year you can expect to have the machine running for 70 to 90 minutes to dry them properly.
There are two fans but if either was faulty it would tend to make a loud noise.

So, i have had a reasonable load of washing in the dryer for 2 hours. It was on the ‘Damp Synthetics’ setting.
Indeed the washing was still damp and a little warm.
I took part of the load out and put it onto the ‘Dry Synthetics’ setting. It has run for another two hours and the washing is still damp and warm.
The condesor has water on it but there is none in the water bottle.
Any more ideas or help would be appreciated. -
