ParticipantI appear to have large amounts of salt getting into the dishwasher, but can’t see how to stop the problem.
I have a Neff integrated dishwasher – no obvious model number on the machine or the instructions, but there is a code on the instructions 5600 059 883 (8308).
I refilled the salt dispenser about a couple of weeks ago and since then everything is covered in a white, salty residue that easily wipes or rinses off. At first i attributed it to salt spillage, but it has been run enough times to flush through any loose salt.
On checking the instructions (obscure in the exteme!) I eventually discovered the means of setting the (electronic) salt level, and it had been set to maximum, which isn’t appropriate in our area, and I have now reduced it; but that can’t be the answer as the dishwasher has previously been operating satisfactorily for years.
I have tried to flush out the salt dispenser and use the dishwasher without salt (the low salt indicator is on) but the effect continues.
We have been using Finish Powerball tabs with separate rinse aid and salt.
Any suggestions gratefully received.January 15, 2011 at 1:29 pm #341226Martin

The salt lid gasket is not secure or sealed properly. Take the lid off, check and clean the gasket then refit firmly (careful not to overtighten).

Thanks – there’s nothing obviously wrong there and I’ve removed, cleaned and refitted the lid several times. This morning I’ve reversed the gasket, but it appeared to be in good condition.

Might be an obvious question but are you sure it is salt deposits – lick the plate and report back – seems strange that if you have no salt in the container you still get the deposits.
