ParticipantHi all, I have fitted 3 blower fans to this drier over the last two months {app} they lasted about 3 weeks each time and I can see no reason why they are breaking so quickly. Has anyone come across this problem before ❓
Thanks Mark.

Are they physically snapping on the collar , or is the ” D ” shaft rounding ? If they are snapping, it is usually due to too much force pushing them on the shaft ( shaft should be nice and free ) , and also make sure the spring clip that sits around the shaft is fitted ( as well as the circlip that prevents it shooting of the end of the shaft .If there is no spring clip there , check inside the ducting .
Other than that , failure is generally down to blocked or partially blocked , or overlong , ducting runsJanuary 24, 2011 at 10:37 am #341542MDE
ParticipantThanks for the reply, sorry for not getting back sooner.
The fan is splitting all across the back, edge to edge. On the third fan I used a jubilee clip to ensure there was no movement on the shaft. The fans did take a lot of force to push on , but, I’ve never come across one of these that did’nt. I will try another one but this time I will try filing down the shaft a little bit.
Any more comments would be welcome. Thanks Mark

Hello MDE
I know this is an old thread, but I have had exactly the same problem. 3 fans this year on the same machineMy question is, did fitting the jubilee clip solve the problem?. Thanks

Hi Spanner51,
The jubilee clip may have helped but i filed the shaft down until the fan went on without haveing to be forced and i thimk that is what made the differenceHope this helps,
Mark.
[ And it took alot of filing]August 18, 2011 at 9:00 pm #341545eastlmark

mmm, sounds like you are trying to fit the wrong fan, there are 2 with different hole sizes:
31001317 is the smaller hole
31001043 is the larger.312967 is the correct retaining clip that fits around the shaft. Think the weight of a jubilee clip will put it out of balance.

interesting
I got the fans from JLA, the 31001317, quoting the model number. They didn’t mention about 2 shaft sizes. Thanks MDE and eastlemark -
