Hi.
I have an Hygena APP 6302 built under fridge,
The fridge has not been cooling down to a optimum temperature recently even though it is set between 4 & 5.
When i remove the long probe from the fridge then reconnect the wires to the thermostst and switch back on the fan and compressor kicks in and runs no problem and the back wall of the fridge starts to freeze up.
Is there any way to bypass the thermostat so i can confirm this is the problem, the thermostat has an earth, 2 brown wires and a black.

The safest way is to run it with the probe inside the fridge itself rather than pushed down the tube.
It won’t react to the fridge air temperature.

Thank you very much for the help and reply
When i have done as you say the fridge compressor stops responding and the temperature starts to rise in the compartment again.
I assume it is the thermostat that is causing the problem, where is the best place to get them from, i live in Cheshire.

I wouldn’t condemn the thermostat just yet, the way I desribed only eliminates the temperatre control side of the thermostat, not the electrical contacts inside it.
The optimum way is to bypass it completely as you suggested and see if the fridge gets too cold, if the compressor and system gas are all ok it will freeze eventually.
It’s just not good practice to do this, nor should I condone or advise on messing about with electrical connections (eu regulations and all ;))
Just bear in mind that a thermostat is merely a switch, there are no neutrals, so all three leads will at some time be live, if you connect them all together you won’t blow the fuse, but it will essentially bypass the thermostat.
Just make sure it’s disconnected from the mains when you pull the leads off though !

I will give that a try in the morning, my wife has had just about enough of me messing around with the fridge, she has even said that i have gone cold on her “pardon the pun”

Seriously though, if it doesn’t get damn cold in there once you’ve tried that, it will be a matter of either the compressor is failing or there is a possible system gas leak. Either way it’s not a DIY job to put right, and both fairly costly. Let us know what happens.

Hi Dave,
I have by-passed the thermostat this morning and the compressor has stayed on continuous and the temperature has dropped dramatically and is currently @ -10 and dropping!!
I hope this gives you a better insight to the problem.

I would say 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that the thermostat is the culprit then.

We have the same problem with our Hygena APP 6302 built under fridge. It is 2 years old. Is this an easy DIY job?

Fairly straightforward, yes. We can’t really advise on exact fitting instructions for legal reasons, please ensure the appliance is disconnected from the mains power before attempting any repairs yourself though 😀

I too have a defective 6302,that is 6 years old the stat keeps cutting out and I have to reset it
I am a qualified spark so have no problems with electricTo replace stat do I dismantle the sides and top to renew or can the card be cut

there has been issues with some app6302 cutting out to early.
Both mfi and servis say there have been no changes in the design.
by changing the thermostat often doesnt stop the problem and this can only be down to insulation failure.
But trying a new thermostat is cheaper at this stage than a new fridge.
