ParticipantHello all, first post here 🙂
I have a five year old Ariston A1436, a couple of weeks ago my missus noticed that the pause you get in the agitation was getting longer, so I sat in front of it and waited. Those that are familiar with the machine will know it has the lock light then four lights vertically downward from that.
When the lights change from just the second one lit to the second and third, it just halts. No error messages nothing. Now when my other half noticed this problem, it was halting for about 10 minutes before carrying on, now it just sits there, permanently stuck.
So, an engineer came out and reported error F05, pumping fault, replaced the PCB, went away, and I had a working machine again. Until the next morning, 4 washes later that is. Same fault, except this time, in addition when starting a new wash, the machine takes in water and detergent for about 20 seconds, pauses, then DUMPS the water and detergent for a couple of seconds before abruptly halting, like it’s realised it shouldn’t do that. Then it takes water in again and agitates for a while until it reaches the second stage and halts.
We have another engineer booked but won’t arrive for another week, by then we’ll have been without a serviceable washer for nearly a month. Has anyone heard of this before? I’ve read through this forum a bit but all other posts mention error codes, mine just sits there like it’s having a bit of a think.

ParticipantI think another chap had a similar problem in this thread:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=59269
But unlike him, an on off cycle only randomly did the trick, and now it appears it doesn’t work at all.
EDIT: Oh, and when I try to select a wash cycle now, I can hear the lock click on, the door is indeed locked but the lock light isn’t on, only the single program light I selected. Then it just sits there.

Right, in the interests of helping others with similar problems, I’ve now fixed the issue.
Firstly, there was nothing wrong with the old PCB. It was all down to the motor brushes being worn down and split. They were only making intermittent contact with the motor, failing completely after a few minutes of use.
As for the new PCB and the problem of it dumping water almost immediately after starting a wash cycle, an engineer informs me it’s due to a newer version of firmware on the card, it’s testing the pumps are working before starting in earnest.
I asked if this meant my detergent was being partially washed away and he said no, it only puts water in the drawer you aren’t using for that program (which usually means the pre-wash drawer as it’s rarely used).
So, I’m a happy bunny again with clothes that don’t smell. I hope the above helps someone sometime. 🙂
