ParticipantWhen switched on at the on/off, nothing happens.
I have remoevd the front panel, and there is power getting to the on/off switch and the door latching lever is working. When the switch is on, power is getting to the control board, but no lights appear.
The only live wires I can find are the mains brown cable to the on/off switch, and the red cable to the control board when switched on.
Any suggestions?
I can use a multi-meter is necessary for further checks.
I inherited the machine 16 months ago, and do not know it’s history, though it has worked ok to now.
Kind regardsJanuary 24, 2011 at 8:52 am #342158clivejameson

Sounds like the pcb may have blown…remove it and carefully open up it’s box and have a good look firstly to see if there’s a dry joint under one of the relays and secondly to see if one of the triacs has blown (you need good eyesight for that lol)
If it’s a dry joint then just the pcb will need replacing…some of these machines have tracks on the top of the board directly under the relay which means you can’t get the solder in there, but if a triac has blown you need to identify which component it controls and look for a fault there too 😕
Power off/machine isolated at all times :zap:

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I did look at the boards, but nothing poked me in the eye – perhaps not looking close enough.
Is a blown triac obvious? If so, how do I identify what it controls?
Are there any wiring diagrams available?
Thanks againJanuary 24, 2011 at 5:32 pm #342160clivejameson

Sadly no wiring diagrams but if you carefully inspect the triacs then a blown one will have a small lump missing out of the middle of it. If you find one like that it’s a case of following its mounting tracks to an edge connector then identifying where the wire goes 😉
Sometimes boards do just fail but IME it’s rare on these so do check for earth leakage too…

Sad indeed.
I am taking the board in to work tomorrow to check out for dry joints etc.
Could you clarify the switch and board wiring for me?
To the main switch I have the live and neutral (brown and blue)
Then there is a grey/black, which appears to switch to live (240V) and is wired to the control board.
At the control board end of this grey/black there is a neighbouring red wire which disappears down into the machine. a voltage check across the red and grey/black gives 50V, yet between the blue neutral and the red I get 0V.
At the main switch there are also 2 white/red wires, one going to the controller. could you tell me what this is? The last terminal at the switch has 3 white wires, 2 going to the controller. Any suggestions?
I am very grateful for any help, as I find the not knowing very frustrating, especially if it could be something reasonably straight-forward.
Kind regards

Sorry no…there are variants and wiring diagrams are not available unless you are a Bosch engineer….draw your own conclusions about protectionism there but that’s a whole other thread 👿
Dry joints are usually obvious by the burning around them, and a blown triac will be visible too….

Checked the circuit board and re-soldered (there were some suspect joints) but no no avail.
Checked through the rest of the wiring and components as best I could.
Still nothing.
Due to the un-known history and evidence of previous repairs (missing screws and cabling not replaced in correct routing) I have decided replace the complete machine.
Thanks for your help though.
