Hi,
Got a bit of bother with an Amica AWCT10L in warranty. Customer saying machine shows motor error code (lit/lit/lit/out) when washing a heavy load, but not on light load. Went out and checked machine, tested and all seemed fine.
Checked board, water marks on back but no burning etc. Cleaned up.
Checked motor, good contact and plenty of life on brushes. A bit more arcing than normal so gave it a good clean with comm cleaner and arcing disappeared. Meggered it and it seems fine, armature is perfectly smooth. Wiring continuity fine. Tested with some old towels from the van, seemed fine.
Got a call today that machine is still showing error code on heavy load.Has anyone else had this problem? I’m leaning towards new module as had a few problems with them but normally with dead machine, unless the brushes are arcing again? 😕

Did you remove the brushes and have a look?
I had one last week where there was excessive arcing and the brushes were badly burned along one edge. I tried cleaning them and the com and then refitting them. But there was still more arcing than there should have been.
I fitted a new motor in the end, and it was immediatley much better both visibly and on noise level.

Yep, removed brushes (so easy on the AWCTs), brushes seemed fine, shiny right across the surface and no blue/purple overheating on the armature. Machine has been very lightly used so only a few mm worn down after 18 months. When I cleaned the comm arcing was immediately much better, just very slight sparking at the brush tips themselves, as you’d expect.

Hi,
If anyone comes across the same problem got the customer to run the machine before I got their and the motor was boiling hot after 40 mins use. Going to put in a new motor and fingers crossed it sorts it.

Yep, new motor and problem solved. Still no idea what the cause was as machine had very little use, brushes like new and no insulation fault.
Motor sent was a different type though – similar to the old Servis ones. No idea if it’s just a change of suppliers or a known issue with Amica.
i also have a problem with one in warranty, again it shows the motor fault code, it comes up after being on wash for few minutes (machine empty) howver it will spin fine,
brushes all ok, motor wasnt hot when it failed, contacts on motor and board all good,i didnt want to order a motor if there was someover inherent fault

The main reason for motor fault error is a leak from the soap dispenser hose. ❗
You have to look closely as its not always apparent the pin hole which will be located close to the shoulder just below the hose clip. When you test it empty it may not leak. 😕
(there are other posts here mentioning the rough edge of drum rubbing the hose)
If this is the case then adjust top spring by stretching a bit.If the dispenser hose is ok then look at the overflow grey hose on the rear of the dispenser I have had a few leak from here.
Although in many cases it all dry when you visit, so no visable signs but not before sometimes taking out the board!
Just take a close look or you will be going back again in a few months with the same problem!
