ParticipantHi
Probably an ignorant question, but anyway!!
The belt keeps coming off all the time, it seems to be when I put in a largish load certainly not a huge load.
Are these machines pretty rubbish when it comes to larger loads? I don’t know if I basically just need to put a new belt on, does a slipping belt generally mean a worn one or could it mean a more serious problem? I don’t want to call someone out when I can fix it myself for £10!
Also, I can only find belts for models wg1130 but with different letters on the end, for eg wg1130pg (not t) are the end letters of relevance to belt size?
Hope someone can help, it is driving me mad having to wait for my husband to pull the machine out every other day (I am 8 months pregnant) whilst my washing builds up.
Thanks
Lucy

Lucy,
The reason the belt keeps coming off is almost certainly due to Drum Bearing failure I’m afraid. I think you will probably find that when the machine does spin, it is very noisy?? 🙁
A new belt will cost around £15 or so, and to replace the main Bearings and Seal about £80’ish.
Best test is to remove the belt and spin the drum by hand, it should spin quietly.

Tip. The circumference of the belt is written on the outside, in millimeteres. Armed with the size, there is always a belt somewhere, (no matter who the manufacturer is) that will fit.
If the belt keeps popping off, there is a reason, and Martin is probaby right regards bearings. If there is a rumble when the drum is rotated, there is the cause. Another possibilty on that range is a small split in one of the spokes of the pulley.
You may have a 5 year parts warranty so it could pay you to exercise that facility. If not and bearings are your problem, and with an oncoming addition to your family, now may be the time to upgrade to a more suitable machine for your future needs.

Thanks for your replies!
I wouldn’t actually say the spin was noisey.
If I was to decide to replace the bearings would it be something I would need to call a professional for (I have no technical knowledge of washing machines as you may have guessed!)

Lucy,
The point I must emphasise here is that if you remove the belt, then spin the drum by hand, it should NOT make any noise at all!
If it does, bearings are your problem in this case 😉

Since posting on the forum the machine has decided even if it keeps the belt on it is not spinning properly (the clothes are coming out pretty wet) Would this back up the bearings theory?
Guess I will just have to decide now whether its worth getting it fixed or going for a new machine.
Thanks for your help it is much appreciated!

Bearing failure, unless critical whereby they had collapsed completly wouldn’t cause the drum to spin at a slower rate normally, and I’m sure you’d notice the noise anyway.
It would seem to me that the belt is actually all that may be wrong and it is slipping. When the belt is reffited, how much free play is there? If I recall this is a stretch on belt and should be extremely tight.
Also, could you post the rest of the model up, as you say WG1130T isn’t enough, it’s either TG – TGT or TPG (I think 😕 ) and they all differ slightly. The full number is on the back 😉
Let me know and I’ll check more details for you.
Dave.

The model number is wg1130tg. He says the belt is not that tight or difficult to put on so maybe we will be lucky and this is the problem!

Well the belt is £12 inc if you want to try it.
Could someone confirm that part number C00027206 is actually a stretch on belt please ?
It doesn’t tell me on the info and I don’t have one in stock here at the moment.
