ParticipantOne week after Martin so helpfully solved my Bosch dishwasher problem, and it’s stuck again.
This time it seems to start OK, carries on through the cycle, but by about halfway through the water has disappeared (or near enough disappeared), the tablet has been spat out and is sitting at the bottom of the machine and the machine is still making noises, but is stone cold. It then won’t restart unless I run through Martin’s procedure of unfastening and refastening the inlet hose and tilting in (no water comes out)
Is this related, or just bad luck on my part, d’you think?
To confirm, it’s a Bosch SPS2462GB. FD number is 7906 680375. It was bought in autumn 1999, and apart from a previous owner-blamed blockage has been just fine. To the best of my knowledge there was no block today, and I have cleaned all the filters just in case.
I’m sorry if I seem needy, but I just don’t get what’s going on. I appreciate it may need a bod to come and look at it – if that’s the case, then any advice on where I can find one would be very valued indeed.
Please let me know wha you think

Cloviscat,
The machine has a water level control problem. It will need a bit of expert attention to access the metering tank/water level device. The reason you have to take off the inlet hose and reconnect means that the Safety Water Block is coming into operation 🙁
Have you tipped the machine backwards? and did water leak out? If yes to either, get someone in the trade to look at it I reckon 😉

Hi Martin
Thanks again for a prompt reply.
Yes, I tipped it backwards again, as part of my effort to get it working again. I tried *both* your recommendations and it restarted, but I didn’t know which had done the trick – not that it really mattered, I suppose, if it failed again… No water came out, but I’m not convinced that I got the full 50 degrees, because the hose and cables are so tight – they have to reach past the waching machine to get to the sink, and I’d already pulled the washing machine out as far as I could to get some slack. D’you think it would make any difference if I managed a bigger tilt? I doubt it, but it’s worth asking 😕
Right. I’ve tried and failed to find someone to come out to it before – we’re 45 minutes out of Edinburgh (depending on your driving and the time of day) – and it seems like it’s the back of beyond to the city-based trade. Last person who did come out took the appliance away, charged me £80 and then sent it home with the fault unresolved. Do you have any advice on getting trustworthy help?
I wish I didn’t feel so brainless about these things!

What’s your postcode Cloviscat ? There’s a lot of repairers on the site who may be able to help.
You don’t say which direction from Edingburgh you would be driving for 45 minutes 😉

Hello Dave
I’m southish-eastish of Edinburgh, right on the county line, so I vary what I say about where I am depending on who I’m talking to!
The EH postcode sppreads right around Edinburgh in all directions but north (cause there’s a big stretch of water in that direction!) and as far as I can see, there are NO listings for anybody as EH – am I doing it right? On the off chance, I checked TD as well, which is the postcode for the Scottish Borders to the south. No joy.
🙁

Sorry Cloviscat, some people have bee a tad tardy in getting their details into the directory here. 😕
You could try…
E P Electrical on 01289 306271 who cover a host of TD codes.
RDA on 01698 749488 who cover all EH codes.
James Stewart based in Kelso who also covers TD on 01573 224411.
Not sure who does what products though I’m afraid.

Thanks for the tips – I will certainly give them a try – if they can’t help, they might know someone who can – fingers crosed!
