ParticipantHave used Talktalk for telephone for over 4 years since selling my shop, and have pushed my new number to all old and new customers as I now work from home. I made the mistake of sending them an email asking if I were to move to another supplier would I be able to take my number with me, I had a reply saying that they had tried to contact me but had been unable to, they said that they had put a Cease on my line that would come into affect in 28 days! I replied saying that wasn’t what I wanted and had only posed the question, I was told that I would have to phone to sort it out, I duly did this and after half an hour of being moved from one section to another was told all was ok and the account would not be terminated, Tuesday this week my phone went dead! After many calls over the last few days have been told that even though it was their fault there is no way I would get my number back!! They have lied, hung up, fobbed me off and probably destroyed my business. I shall contact offcom but won’t hold my breath. Stay clear of this awful company:(

It is scary how much we all rely on phone numbers I suppose… thousands of machines out there with my number on the front, but no guarantee BT won’t turn around tomorrow and change it all.
I suppose really the way to go is 0845 numbers, as these “belong” to you, but customers don’t like them and in many ways a local number is an asset anyway, setting you aside from the Repaircare/Premier “local” firms.

Yes, my Talktalk broadband has been very poor for the last few months. At one point I had no connection for about 12 hours. I thought there was a fault with my equipment but it suddenly just came back on. I briefly lose connection about 3 times a day and I only get fast enough broadband to watch Utube videos at certain times of the day like 7 – 8 am.

I was with tiscali before talktalk took over and get the failures like those mentioned and it’s probably slower.
Might have to change perhaps.February 7, 2011 at 5:24 pm #343524iadom

BT faster broadband 😆
What you need is cable, “its the future”.
My 20 meg Virgin Media connection is going up to 30 meg soon at no extra charge. 8)

Yes – It has gone right down the tubes – even the Customer Service people in Ireland are fed up with Talk Talk.
The quality of the AOL service has gone right down. Regular failures with their service. 👿
But they all seem to be the same.

Been keeping quiet on this so as not to tempt fate.
Our connection at home used to drop out regularly on dial up so we went wireless and of late connection has been excellent. Speed not so good, get 6mbs at best as we are in a rural area.
Anyways, Sunday no connection at all. Router diagnostics all okay, had to go to pub to use the wireless facility to make sure laptop was okay, ( had a pint as well to keep landlord happy 😀 )
Monday still no connection, phoned Tiscali kept on hold for ages, no contact made. Phoned last night got through to support, 40 minutes later still no connection, we will get an engineer to call you back on Thursday evening between 7 and 9pm. Not going to hold my breath :rolls: enough is enough, going to change to Eclipse.
