KeymasterOkay, I’ve spoken to you all about this so you should all now know the score on this.
Essentially, the whole thing adds to the credibility of UKW and of the agents in the main IF we can prove that we can work with a company like this to help them and in turn, help ourselves. It’s not a free ride and we have to be seen to be supporting them as well, but in the end there can be no losers here.
Point is, once one starts down this path I sincerely hope that others will follow that lead and we will get a lot more support for the people from within the industry and, staying true to my vision, we will not be taking money off the guys to achieve that goal.
We can be and look more proffesional and we can be a far more cohesive and united trade than we currently are, all I’m doing is putting the building blocks into place for that to happen.
If this goes the way I think it may though, hang onto your shorts cause this is gonna be one helluva ride and we’ll revolutionise this trade beyond all recognition. 😀

What we have to do is to get one or two of the big names to be prepaird to put their logo on the site and this is the question we should start to put to them not only P&G but others like CDSL and D&G.
I know that it is a smigen early yet but if it were mentioned to them as an eventual possibility, it would give them time to think about it and inform us what they would require of us in exchange.
Once you have a few good names up there, then it will start to snowball.

I agree Del.
I have already tried to get Kev, who has a better rapor with CDSL and Wash Vac to see if they will sponsor a forum each, low cost good advertising for them. £750 to these companies is fuck all really, merely a token gesture.
Once the name gets bigger and the exposure to the public grows then the site will become a portal to our services, promoting the independent repairers and feeding us work. At least that’s the way I see it happening over the coming year or so. The thing of that is, which of them wants left out and left behind?
Beyond that, who knows as there’s so much can be done from this starting point.

KeymasterIt should start to snowball providing we get the supports of the Indies. It’s one thing us all supporting UKW and pushing its name and credibility. At the moment its moving in a positive direction we are all fresh and want to see things succeed. The site is receiving enormous hits hence this should be the attraction to the sponsors, we need to keep the hits coming and with that we need to maintain the traffic. There are a number of peple who used to enter pieces on the site most of these had much credibility within the industry , we need them to come back.
Apathy is the biggest downfall of this industry people want things on a plate for them and then still don’t want to do anything. We just need to ensure that as things are driven forward these individuals pull their fingers help and help us push forward and unite.August 22, 2004 at 8:35 am #115488Del

We need some hot topics, god forgive me for saying so but we could almost do with another battle. If you can remember the amount of hits we were getting when the nesn thing was in full flow. I know we cant do this because we are all trying to be respectable now.
But we need somthing to stir the blood a little, somthing contenteous, somthing to rattle the cage and get the membership in general posting in on the site.I know a lot of them are on holiday as this tends to be a quieter time of year but we have to generate a bit more flow as soon as the bank holiday is over and also push the meeting at Stafford.
Ideas anyone

Oh I do have one or two tricks up my sleeve yet you know. 😉
I don’t have the time to fully go into it now but th e-jobs thing should generate an interest, provide a worthwhile service and get the interest level up as well. I also have a few neat ideas centered around that to push UKW.
With the resources of the likes of P&G at our disposal we can blitz the industry and reach the public as well.
It’s interesting that you mention the NESN thing Del as that did generate a massive interest in UKW at the time from the trade but none from the public. What we’re now seeing is a massive increase in hits from the general public and that is undoubtledly set to grow.
Some twat even pinched http://www.ukwhitegoods.net and is using it to re-direct to his spares site, which proves to me that to go to that trouble UKW is being recognised now, within a few years it will hopefully be a brand in its own right. I’m still considering what to do about that idiot cybersitter, I may just wait till there’s some money and go at him off the bat rather then arsing around. He registered the domain on June 5th, hence I have registered and protected a load of domains for UKW at my own personal expense this past 6 months or so as I saw this coming.
The increase in hits from the public is where the true power lies in all honesty, with that comes a totally different perspective on UKW.
We have to get this survey thing up and running and we also need to have the nonce to use that information and to profit by it as well as allowing the guys to profit by and use it as a tool.

Let’s just have a modicum of caution, the more they give the more control they will expect. The only thing they may not expect is that the guys who started this whole community are on a crusade to try to improve the lot of independant service provider.
We got suffed along the way before with the software people and people wanting to close us down when they did’nt like what we said. I am not saying this move wont work, on the face of it it seems the answer to a maidens prayer but we do need to be careful.Sean

KeymasterNo I back spent a number of months wandering around in the mist, but I feel that I have done what I said I would do.

Happy Year to you all

KeymasterThere’s a lis tof who’s in TWR somewhere in there, I thought it was a sticky post but essentially there’s…
Me, Dave, Kevin H, Kevin Morrissey, youself, Sean, Jonh Mac, Mark, Phil K & D, Alex, Neil Howieson, Martin and Penguin. Not a very big list.
Martin an P45 are of little danger as they don’t talk to anyone beyond these walls and both are okay. There’s not one person in there that I don’t trust, but I want to keep all this stuff kinda quite for now until we’re ready.
