ParticipantHi,machine runs for a couple of minutes then go’s to fault code e9.I,ve looked on various other forums and they talk about resetting it using the program button.either I,m stupid or I’m missing something as my machine does not have a dedicated program button.
I’ve checked pump and hoses they all seem clear, read that it may be pressure switch, any ideas how I can check this.
Machine is 5 yes old so not sure if it’s worth spending a lot on.
Any help appreciated,February 12, 2011 at 11:55 am #344446NokiaGuy

No we’re not all on holiday, but we all have to work for a living & those of us that give technical advice, give up our spare time free of charge to answer peoples questions on UKWG. While we do our best to answer every query, if we’re busy it may take a while.
Gasgull: I’ve looked through our fault guides for Smeg dishwashers & E9 is listed as pause in programme not a fault for older machines, can you check if you have a pause button & press it to see what happens. The listing you’ve seen on other Forums telling you how to re-set appears to be for newer machines not yours.

Thanks for your time Specialist01269.
have checked the machine ,no pause button activated.the manual says it a water intake system malfunction, whatever that means, after the fault e9 comes up it then shows PO and then pumps the water out.does the same each time..
In general the costs of replacing the machine is around£330.being a heating engineer myself I’m wondering wether paying parts and call out fee’s will be economical, unless anyone can diagnose easy fix.thanks again for your help.February 12, 2011 at 6:35 pm #344449Specialist01269

Hi Gasgull: A water intake problem could mean that the water intake valve is faulty, back of machine where water inlet pipe enters. When you turn the machine on to a programme after a few seconds you should be able to hear water being taken into the machine & if you open the door then you should see water in the cavity.
If not, then maybe it’s time to call a Good local engineer. If in doubt give the UKWG repairs@ feature a look, we may list someone in your area.

Thanks Andy.
It certainly takes water in ,just seems that it takes too much goes to fault code then pumps out.February 13, 2011 at 3:49 pm #344451Specialist01269
