Hi, can anybody help on this one.
My main house circuit breaker ‘blew’ last weekend, after turning everything off & resetting, when I turned on the dishwasher it went again.
Removing the dishwasher I find lots of water underneath, so I take it out
to the garage (v. small kitchen) for investigation.
After drying it out with a small heater I tested (with flying leads) the two pumps & the heater – all work OK.
    The pressure switch meters OK.
Having seen a potential solenoid fault posted on the forum I checked this – OK.
    Door switch meters OK.
If I disconnect the thermister, I get the correct error light flashing.
BUT, apart from the mains light I get NO indication of life at all,
No lights, No test mode – NOTHING

    Anybody any bright ideas ?

Have you checked the heater element? it may be leaky to Earth. You can carry out a basic check with a good Multimeter but ideally you need a 500 volt insulation tester to do it properly. Also if it’s an Electronic model it’s possible for the control pcb to have popped.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE TESTING, Being :zap: can seriously ruin your day.

A totally unnecessary and potentially dangerous thing to do. Any component can be tested for resistance, continuity and insulation with the machine completely disconnected from the mains supply if you have a megger or suitable multimeter.

I must be going blind, I totally missed the bit about testing with Flying leads. Jim is totally correct there is absolutely no need to test Live, all Electrical items within an appliance can be Tested using a Multimeter and or Megger.

Aah, glad to see the Health & Safety police are active.
I was hoping for some sensible advice as to the machine’s problem,
    but.. never mind, thanks anyway.

    Re: Ariston LS161, No lights?

I gave you advice on what to check in my original reply to your question.
Unless you’ve checked that & can tell us what the results were, we can’t go any further.
The problem you listed can also be caused by a faulty motor, Chafed wiring, Faulty pump etc. It’s a process of Elimination.

As for the Health & Safety Police, we are legally obliged to warn you against such dangerous practices as the testing you did.
