ParticipantI had a call with this particular problem with the dishwasher continuous draining, the program did not end the cycle. I will be coming out tomorrow to look at it.
The client tried resetting, removed the plug, and still no change. She says that the dishwasher is still draining when you open the door. I advised her to disconnect machine and turned off the water until I come out.
I am thinking if it could be the float chamber, blockage in that area? Oh where is the float chamber? Is that another name for pressure switch?
What else should I be aware of?

Its got a leak [probably] front left is a polystyrene float which engages the pump when the m/c leaks. Hence the pump running when the door is open.
If there’s no water in the base then its a PCB fault.. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time it will be a leak.
Top off, sides off, door skin off, Plinth off, Dry out water. test= look for leak! 😉

Thanks Pinky,
The polysterene float, is that on the base of the dishwasher at the very bottom right onto the floor?
I feel that I am equipped for a battle…armed with towels and gloves!

The base of the dishwasher was bone dry. No evidence of water leak. The float chamber is working, checked the connections and all appears to be sound. But not solved the continuous draining.
The dishwasher is well looked after with filter cleaned regularly. There are no signs of blockage.
It’s a quite an old machine though. The client felt that the time would be better put toward a new dishwasher. Wish I knew what’s wrong with it, I wonder if it’s like what Pinky said PCB faults.

Just spotted this thread and I have to say that at this point we can only guess at what the problem was as we will never know. However, and to agree with Pinky’s diagnosis, no water in base = PCB fault. 🙂
But, to take Pinky’s diagnosis a step further and at the same time answer as to why the PCB went and what may have caused it? I would hazzard an informed guess here in that the dispenser actuator (thingy – can’t recall its name right now) blew up and took the PCB with it!
But one thing that has come good and you could learn out of your experience is to adopt the THE GOLDEN RULE when dealing with all things BSH Dishwashers : –
“If the drain pump runs and the pipes are clear,
If the base ain’t wet and there’s no mouse near,
Take the module out and have a spot,
For a triac blown or eeprom shot!” 😈February 16, 2011 at 5:17 pm #344651twicknix

Thanks Martin,
I feel much better knowing that I have taken other people advice.
What you said about the soap dispenser unit being blown and caused the PCB board to blow, I must say that really explains it as the owner of the dishwasher said that the soap dispenser did not open. So the penny finally dropped.
Like you said I learn from experience which it is very true. 18 months ago I would not have the confidence to tackle it but with UKW forum it really boosted it.
