ParticipantDont we just love getting these things out of the lovely fitted kitchen !
Been doing this job for 30 years,so have come across some bad installs.
went to a customer yesterday.AEG int D/W.popped off kick board ,2 blocks of wood wedged under chasis of d/w (not under the legs)
The blocks of wood were GRIPFILLED to the chassis of the appliance and also GRIPFILLED to the floor !!!
Spent an hour trying to remove said m/c.gave up.
very annoyed customergetting back kitchen company to have words .
It still continues to amaze me how many cr*p installs i still come across.February 15, 2011 at 8:31 pm #344765TheSpinDoctor

I’d have took one look at the gripfill & waved a cheery adios amigo.
Waste of time.

I had one yesterday where someone had the clever idea of putting wood flooring down in front of the kick board and then to top it off they had put a half height decorative skirting board all around the room fitted with no nails and then to make it look that little bit better they had put beading all the way round as well.
It did look quite nice but won’t when someone gets to cutting huge chunks out of it and it won’t be me.
I will wait to see the mess when they re-book.February 16, 2011 at 8:42 am #344768Criscold

Went to one a couple of months ago the customer who just happened to be a solicitor stated that he had tried to remove the machine and needed expert help. after winding up the feet the machine was stuck the the granite worktop and just hung there. quick exit no claims on my insurance thank you

Went to an LPG Delonghi range cooker last year and the kitchen fitters had poured concrete level mix across the floor and the 4 legs were buried into 1″ deep cement, then I noticed the Dishwasher, Dryer & Washing Machine were the same. Actually felt sorry for her and told her to get back in touch with B&Q who had used contracters.

I’ve never heard of Gripfill until now, so I’d better watch out in case I get stuck on a job like this. 😉
Integrated dishwashers are bad enough to shift at the best of times so if they use that trick on a washer/dryer then perhaps a kango hammer would be the only solution?
