ParticipantTwo year old Liebherr CUN 3031 fridge /freezer heating .
Yesterday I’ve have noticed top of a freezer was slightly warm, but I didn’t raise any concern. Few hours ago I’ve opened fridge/freezer. All food was warm and fully defrosted. Instead of cooling it was heating.
I’ve turned it off, unplugged for few hours and then plugged it back. It didn’t help.
I’ve done some online research. It could be faulty thermostat???
Now I am without fridge/freezer and desperate to hear any suggestions.
Or maybe a good engineer in Ealing area? Many thanks

hello, sounds like the little pcb at the rear of the fridge that’s at fault.
if you give liebherr a call on 0844 4122 655, they’ll put you in touch with an engineer in your area, unless anyone from this board picks up the call?cheers.

Thank you for the reply.
I couldn’t wait anymore so I called an engineer.
He insisted to measure the gas level. I found it a bit odd to test this on a 3 year old fridge. Also he was sure that thermostat isn’t faulty.
Anyway the reading was normal. And then I was told that fridge started to work normally.
I’ve asked him what was the reason for heating up and if it can happen again.. He wasn’t sure but he thinks fridge was stuck in defrosting mode.
He advised me to put a bowl of water in the freezer and check it out at 11PM if it’s frozen.
I’ve also asked what is the meaning of a Cool Plus button. He said it’s for manual defrosting and left button ON>>?!It’s been 2 hours since engineer left my house. I think freezer is getting slightly colder but I don’t I wouldn’t say same for a fridge.
I was charged £40 for a labour and £20 for a valve, so in total £60.

oh dear!
it’s not unusual for a fridge to lose refrigerant, but given the symptoms you’ve described, highly unlikely in your case and also highly unlikely for a liebherr.
he’s left a valve on your machine, which is itself a possible cause of a leak in future.
the problem as you described, is almost certainly the pcb at the back.
also, turn the cool plus button OFF. it works as a low ambient switch, should the appliance be housed anywhere cold. it also can be used as a fast freeze facility.
the switch keeps the interior light on half wattage when the door is closed, thereby creating a heat source, warming up the inerior of the fridge and therefore keeping the thermostat closed, giving a signal to the compressor.hopefully, your fridge will keep going. if not, i know someone in reading. is that too far from you?

Now it seems to be working. But will see what the future brings.
We are going on holiday soon and hopefully it doesn’t go wrong when we are away.I do really appreciate your advice. And thank you for explaining the use of Cool plus button.
I am not happy about that valve. In fact I am concerned that will cause any possible leaks.
Reading is about 35miles from me but I will definitely keep in mind your friend and this forum. Many, many thanks.
