No-one seems to have picked up on that one yet. 🙁

Apparently there is some change in the legislation for insurance that dictates that an annual inspection is required or “maintenance check” to ensure the safe operation of the goods insured. I have no idea how good that information is.

However, with British Gas taking on 25+ bodies in Scotland alone it has to be serious.

They are also wanting to bump up the salaries so there’s a ~£3K difference to encourage defectors that were maybe swaying.

Does this mean an annual full M.O.T. for all domestic Gas installations, as per the Landlords saftey certificate ?
If so, the general public will be right pissed off with another stealth tax.

Does it also mean you wont be able to get your annual house insurance, without producing such a certificate as with a car to keep it valid ?

It would be a feather in the cap of UKW if we were to beat the national newspapers in informing the general public of the ramifications of this new edict, dont you think?

    Just a thought

Well no Del, what they’re talking about is having to have a “safety inspection” on any insured appliance, a kick the tyres kinda thing just to make sure it’s okay.

So essentially, they are talking about if the appliance is insured then it has to have an annual inspection.

Needless to say if I’m asked to do such work I will not be placing any warranty on the appliances other than the old, “it’ll be good till I walk out the door” warranty.
