Hi All,
My Whirlpool AFG345G Freezer (european 220V model) made clicking noises and display was blinking. This erratic behaviour was repeated every couple of hours and was driving all the family and the dog crazy.
Reading your forum I decided to give it a brain surgery. The PCB was located next to the display at the top front of the freezer. It was a tricky job to remove it as the retaining screws were underneathe covered with plastic protectors. To undo it I must work with the door open.
The PCB had a red sticker having on it the following data:
ITW ISPRACONTROLS S.P.A.
CU22900
LOT No 20751 *KTP
DATE 1001
CODICE C3
461950057651
220/240V 8 TUBI
On the pcb were just a few components. A relay (the one making all clicking sounds) two capacitors a transformer and and a few resistors. First thing I tried was the relay I used a 9V battery to operate it and measured the contacts. All were ok. Next I followed the path from the two pins I had the battery connected and noticed that there was a capacitor 1000uf/16V connected to one of the lines. I salvaged a similar capacitor from an old computer. The salvaged one was 1500uf/16V soldered it in place and freezer works as good as new again.
Hope this helps anyone with similar problems
