A customer has this machine, it had a power surge caused by leaking shower waste pipe onto the electrics which blew it out.

When I came to visit, I found the plug was welded onto the multiplug extension. I cut off the lead and put a new plug and gave the customer a lecture on using extension leads especially it was daisy chained. I might fit a new main leads as a goodwill gesture when I return.

The dryer does work but it won’t continue to run, you have to hold down the start button to start the cycle but if you release the button it stopped like a dead man switch.

I checked out the start switch which it works, interlock works, capacitior works (according to my needle multimeter rather the digital one), motor works.

This leaves me thinking the pcb relay is the culprit, although on the spare parts websites they all offer starter relay, a plastic cube box – where do I find it on the machine? All I can find is the pcb relay board, timer, interlock, capacitor, motor, mains suppressor and lots of fluff!. I didn’t check the heater area as I know it would not be in that area.

The more I look for it, the more I think it is the PCB relay board that replaced the actual starter relay. Am I right on this? I guess the power surge killed the pcb relay?

I might be on a different variant of this model 😳 but I’m sure I’ve had the interlock on these do the same thing. Usually relay behind the fascia between the top of the drum and the cabinet causes this fault though.

again, theres two versions, if thers no relay pcb near the timer, otll need a nitron lock.. serial number needed to confirm

    Serial number is 504220656

Are you saying the door interlock is the problem? That’s interesting…please confirm what do I need to do next.

thats an early version, and should have a relay pcb, near the timer, attatched to the bezel, the door switch on that is just a switch

part number C00207999 should cure it

    this has been discussed previously

    Thanks mate,

I did look at the previous post on same topic. Just that I’m a little thick as the previous post was saying their machine is a later model. So I am trying to figure out which is which. All that I know the machine is 2 years old, funny how things change so quickly on the same production line using different components that does the same job. Makes me wonder if they do it deliberately to mess us about?

I take this as a lesson learnt that I should have gone with my gut feeling about the pcb relay.

its not 2 years old if the serial is 504…!

your either being lied to or customer has date recognition disorder… or its been sat ina warehouse for 3 years!

a 2 year old vtd00p must be one of the last off the production line, in which case itll have the relay in the interlock, but the serial never normally lies, so id actually also go with it being a fascia located relay

In my experience customers can be way out with the age of their appliances :rolls:
