    Hi, I have an electrolux EOB5600B fan oven that has an oven/grill element (electrolux 5029).

    The fault is the oven does not heat when the oven is on. The grill, thermostat works fine.

    I have replaced the element and the fault remains! Perhaps I should have come here first! I have metered the connections on the element when the oven is on and there is no supply.

    All the lights and fans work ok, just the oven doesn’t heat. Is this likely to be the main selector switch?

    All help gratefully received.

    It could be the selector switch / Stat / Thermal cutout etc.

    Please note: there is absolutely no need for you to be trying to live test on an appliance, it is dangerous & unnescessary. Getting :zap: can seriously shorten your life.

    Thanks for the advice. What do you think I should change first?

    If the stat works on the grill, as its the same unit for the oven shouldn’t it work for the oven? also, when I have heated the oven using the grill, then change to oven the themostat works, ie it clicks/lights comes on, goes off when you turn the temp knob.

    Does the thermal cutout control the grill as well as the oven? If so, although my fault finding is a little rusty, then this and the stat thing above would suggest changing the selector switch first… after I have turned the mains off :rolls: would you agree

    First things first, how many Elements does your oven have? & have you checked the Element/Elements for continuity. You need to do this first just to make sure that you did’nt get a dud element or possibly if more than 1 element is fitted you did’nt accidentally replace the wrong 1, then we can go from there.

    I’ve replaced the big element in the top of the oven with a new replacement. It is a dual grill/oven element 1000w/1900w and the fault is the same. I’ve not checked continuity but understand the resistance should be around 200 ohms… more importantly not an o/c, is this correct?

    There are no other elements in the oven, unless there are some small ones in the fans!

    To check the elements, make a note of & remove the element wiring. You should have 2 sets of terminals 1 for the inner element & 1 for the outer.
    Across 1 set of terminals you should see 50-60 ohms, across the second set you should see 20-30 ohms approximately. This is for a 230volt element, you should definately not have an open circuit.

    Have you checked the round oven element at the back by the fan .

    Op says there are’nt any other elements.

    Deffo no round element… here’s a link to what I have bought/replaced.

    Will check the resistance. If all is as it should be then what’s the next step?

    That’s what I thought you said, If the elements check out ok then we can go back & check the selector etc.

    49.3 ohms and 25.6 ohms so looks like the element is fine!

    What’s the next step, replace the selector?

    The parts diagram definately shows a fan element 😕 . Inside the oven there is a back plate that has 4 screws retaining it, remove that and it should expose the element.

    Thanks Merv, can’t get my TDS disc to run so I could’nt check it.
