ParticipantHi folks
Been to this today and cust complaining of poor spin. When I checked it out altho it is a 1200 spin it only seems as if it is spining at about 1000 and then only spins for 2mins. 30secs
Total spin time was 3min 15 secs with 30sec distribute and mess around then 15secs at about 500/800 then 2min 30 sec at 1000.
I know Bosch do a reduced spin on some of their m/c but never come across this on a Wirlpool before.
Checked to make sure potentiometer was connected ok and there was no other switches opperated that would reduce the spin cycle but all looked ok. Fill and draining ok. Just wondered if you had to have a full load in to get a longer time but no load availible for me to put in.
Looks like a PCB fault to me but someone out there might know different so any comments gratefully recieved.
This was rented property and tenant and instruction book not availible.
Thanks
Mick

TBH the spin seems about right to me. 😕 Besides, it would be difficult to differentiate between something spinning at 1000rpm and one at 1200rpm without a rev counter. The tenant will just have to get on with it, after all it spins so what the heck! 😈
Incidentally, I went on to Whirlpool’ website to download the User Instruction Book (AWG5122/S 853722915011) and Whirlpool somehow have mixed the pdf’s up to such a state that it comes up as a WINE CELLAR.:rolls: Bl**dy typical of Whirlpool that is.:D

Thanks for the reply Martin
Yes I agree it is difficult to tell the difference between 1000/1200 spin spin without a rev counter but sometimes you know how it is and you get a gut feeling that it wasn’t spinning fast enough – well this was one of them. Plus 2 min 30 sec total spin time seems rather short to me – I would have expected at least 4min minimum even 6 min. (4min 800/1000 + 2 min 1200 or something like that)
Could be that it is just a crappy spin m/c but just wondered if anyone else has had complaints about the spin or it could be just something simple causeing the problem – like it only does a gentle spin on the spin setting?
Thnks

Are you sure the water is draining out fast enough? This has happened numerous times to me.
1. check that the drain is ok
2. check the sump, pump area…. and the damn Eco ball!!
Usually find that if the drain hose is connected up to the sink it might be a partial blockage at this point so it is draining but not fast enough so the spin cycle occurs with a small bit of water in the drum..?????March 3, 2011 at 3:54 pm #346037MickGeorge

Thanks for the reply scientist – Yes draining fine checked all that – drains out at least half a min before going into spin.
Its the time issue that seems the problem to me seems quite short for a spin program. Didnt find any buttons that might have been pressed either to shorten spin cycle and there is only one spin cycle on the selector.
The only other thing that might be the cause is the spin selector knob is quite stiff to turn and wondered if that might have been the reason why it didn’t seem to spin fast enough. If it had been bashed and something was damaged might have been problem but looking at the pcb it is engaged properly and turning the speed control resitor ok so put that down to lack of cleaning skills by tenant.
Must admit to not been a eco ball fan and have been know to take them out and leave with the customer saying – “if you notice a problem or the machine dosn’t apear to be working properly just give me a ring and I’ll pop it back in” – no one has rung me back so far altho I only take them out if I feel I have to.
But don’t lets start a debate on eco balls that has got to be another thread 🙂
Any other comments gratefully recieved.
Thanks
Mick

Thanks scientist – should have thought to get it but forgot in the heat of the moment 😳 – sorry.
According to Connect the 12nc should be either 85372291510 or 853722915011 but W/pool web site will only recognise the later one. If you are thinking about downloading the IFU it’s as Martin says – for a wine seller fridge!!!!. :rolls:
Looks like this might be a scrap it or get on with it job if its nothing simple – Landlord not happy as m/c only 18mths old – but did get it from a local seconds supplier 😮 – personal oppinion is that it was faulty when new – returned and not checked properly – sold and previous tenant didn’t complain but thats just an oppionion. 🙂
Any other comments welcome
Thanks
Mick
