Hi. I have an Indesit slimline dishwasher – IDL40S. Recently we have noticed some darkening areas on the element and over the last couple of days; my wife has mentioned she can smell a burning smell coming from the dishwasher.
The dishwasher still works, but we are concerned to use it again.

I am unsure if the problem is related to a worn heater element, or is the thermostat at fault, or is this typical of this type of dishwasher, and the smell is just food residue burning off.

    Thanks

    Tim

Hi: If you are concerned with the safety of the machine then I would not use it until it has been checked by an Engineer, the darkening of the Element & burning smell could possibly be due to the Element overheating.
