ParticipantRepaired one of these today. Customer pointed out that the water fill hose had gone RED and according to the user instruction book, the hose needs changing 😕
The fill hose is inside a clear outer sleeve and yes it was red. The inst. book says if inner hose goes red when it is “broken” I have not come accross this type of hose before, can anyone enlighten me more, and does it need changing? There are no leaks inside or out of the clear hose 😕March 16, 2011 at 4:56 pm #347226Martin

Bosch have a similar system except with their hoses they have a water block device fitted which turns red and shuts the water supply off. I can’t directly answer your question Mal with any certainty but I suspect in this case there must be a very high water pressure that’s caused it to go red? Replacing the hose won’t achieve anything either unless you turn the wick down that is.:D
If your customer is concerned, stick on a conventional blue hose and be done. 💡
It’s a BFI68 I think you mean, one of those integrated heaps of Italian tin. :rolls:

It’s the first time that I have been to this machine but what I gather from the customer it’s had a new heater/timer card/dispenser fitted by Hotpoint, totaly reliable.I still need to get to the bottom of this hose issue, I think I need the need the service manual, I will give Jim a PM and see what he has 🙂

Yes I’d be interested too lest I see red next time I get stuck with one of these machines to look at. Do keep me posted please! 😀

Update
I have seen quite a few of these hoses that are red, not one of them is leaking. Must be another money making scam by MerloniJanuary 19, 2012 at 5:34 pm #347230iadom

I have seen one or two with red hoses, replaced with a bog standard one to keep at least one customer happy.
TBH I am not sure what the ‘offical’ fix from Indesit is?

Martin, as a novice plumber I can say with at least 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certainty that turning the wick down won’t change the pressure.
