We have enjoyed 10 years of excellent service from our good strong Bosch WFT2800/GB/13: 7909 00396 Washer dryer

Yesterday the drum dropped on the RH side.

I found the single spring on the RH side had worn through at the 90 degree bend at the top end.

I have managed to bend a new 90 degree bend in the spring at the top of the straight end and I have fitted it in place OK.

My puzzle now is to find the best way to tension the spring and attach to round hook to the tank side bracket.

Do you have any tips on how to do this?

I think the reason the 056765 spring failed is that there was no plastic spring guide (029863???) fitted, and thus the 10 years of rubbing metal-to-metal had worn through the 90 degree bend until it fractured.
It was noted that spring guides are fitted for the other two springs on the LH side and they are fine.

Also noted that some grease had been applied to the area where the spring passes through the top frame (I think this must have been done in the factory because the machine has never been opened before.)

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Thank you

    David

    Hello Martin,

    Thank you for your message.
I have today ordered the new spring and guide as you suggest.
Have you any tips on the best way to tension the spring and attach its round hook to the tank side bracket.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions. (You see I have never had to fit suspension springs to a washing machine before).

    Thank you
    David

    “Tension the spring?” 😕

It’s just a spring, already for hooking into place that’s all. Not easy with the heavy weight of the drum/motor and counterweights bearing down on it that’s true but in essence that’s all that’s necessary.

Speaking from 46 years in the trade mind you, I use a long wooden bar and high tensile nylon cord to lift the drum up first. Once at the correct aligned height, hooking the spring into place is child’s play.:D

Have fun or if your in my neck of the woods I can call and do it for you for a modest fee! Just click on my www. icon. 8)

    Hi Martin,

Thank you for your e-mail and your helpful assistance.
My spare parts have been received and fitted in place, it only remains to connect the hook to the tank bracket.
My big son and I have the long wooden lever and high tensile cord in place
BUT I have one last question……….
Is it necessary to disconnect one or both of the shock absorbers (part # 11 8869) in order that we may lift the drum high enough to get the bracket hole and the spring into alingment?

    Sorry to trouble you again.

Looking forward to hearing from you again soon

    Thank you

    David

    Thank you Martin,

All done now, we are delighted to see the machine running sweetly again. When the drum “dropped” it almost damaged the pcb …………………so I guess we were lucky really.

    Thanks again

    David 😀
