ModeratorAnyone know of a reason for splitting fans on a Admiral tumble drier AYE2200 ? We have replaced three in as many months on one and it sounds like it has gone again. It splits across the centre mounting hole almost as if it has been forced on to a shaft too big (it hasnt) and will work happily for a month or so before splitting again.

Poor venting ?
Heat (or too much of it) causing brittleness ?
I have no idea either really, it’s all I can think of 😆
And P45’s hit the “view unanswered posts” button by the looks of it 😉

Thanks for the “help” Penguin!
Maytags official answer to this enquiry was ” The tumble drier was only designed to be used a maximum of 3 times a week and if its used anymore than that then thats the reason the fans are splitting”
We think we may have a missing spring collar around the fan mounting hole that may have been discarded with the original broken fan when the Maytag engineer replaced it the first time rather than fitting it to the new one therefore by the time we visited it there was no sign of anything missing until Maytag at least were kind enough to fax me an exploded.
Have just visited the http://www.maytag.com site as suggested at the meeting and all the exploded diagrams are there, great!

I’m needing a fan for one of these tumble dryers (split). Does anyone know where I can get one?
Cheers,
Dave

Blimy, talk about re opening old posts. there are 2 fans for these and in my expereince, even the model number wont help identifying them. the only difference being the hole size for the shaft. One is about 1 mm larger than the other and for that reason i have to keep both in stock. Sorry cannont help sort out which is which for you though.
small type hole

speak to Maytag on 01737 231000
there is a circlip to reatain these as well.
ps: dont try to force the smaller one on the larger shaft, that was the reason for my fans splitting 😳 there is also a clip, just a sprung hose clip around the shaft, this may have dropped off and be in the vent somewhere, you should find it along with any broken blades as they can re appear and break the new fan.January 29, 2007 at 3:23 pm #116070AMS

Thanks for the info Mark. I found the old thread via a search and I was hoping it would be you that replied! I’ll give Maytag a call and see if they can help out.
Thanks again,
Dave
