is the probe that is pushed into a hole in the side of the rubber pipe between the condenser and the tub on a zwd1471s
a humidity sensor? and if some clumsy git who shall remain anonymous accidentally pulled the two wires out of the connector which pushes onto the end othe probe, is it possible to put these wires back the wrong way round or doesn`t it matter which way round they go?March 21, 2011 at 3:19 pm #347595kwatt

Compose your post then click on the ‘Upload attachment’ tab down below the post box.
Click on Browse, navigate to the file on your PC, select the file and then click ‘Add the file.
If it is too large you will get a warning to advise you to resize it.
Then submit your post. “Simples” 😀
PS. Its more likely to be an NTC, it doesn’t matter which way the wires go. 😉

thanks iadom, it is NTC but i`m not totally sure which one it is on the ukw spares site . 🙂

Isn’t it the small doofer marked 48c on the picture kwatt posted?
Why do you want to change it?
It doesn’t appear to be in the shop@ but the part number is 3792171021. An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk may be in order. 😉

I can see that the wires have been pulled and recnnected. I’ts best to crimp insulated spade terminals on the 2 wires, discard the connector block and connect directly onto the NTC. 😉

hi ladom i wanted to change it cos i thought i might have damaged it if i`d got the wires the wrong way round but i`ve since been told that it it doesn`t matter which way round they`re connected so i don`t need one now ,simples 🙂

just out of interest, i read that NTC stands for negative temperature coefficient? but what does that mean in the real world? 🙂

Basically its resistance changes with the temperature it is subjected to. The electronics measure the changes in resistance to control the various temperatures within the machine.

and the negative bit means it works in the opposite direction. i.e higher temp=lower resistance. a normal thermister’s resistance rises as the temp rises (ptc)

hi gandh1
i know a little bit about electronics it was the negatve bit that puzzled me but i still don`t have a clue about the “co-efficient” bit. i thought that was a maths term and i `ve always had trouble with that 🙂 -
