    Hi again,
my hotpoint WD62 washer drier has stopped working(again!)
Basically, the programmer knob seems to stick, the machine will fill with water and go straight into fast spin for a split second, then stop spinning and either stay like that, or it will empty and keep filling while constantly emptying indefinately.
the pump sounds as if its spinning, but the clock isnt progressing, however it is making a ticking noise from the clock/programmer area.
    any ideas please
    cheers
    pete

Going right into spin is normally a tacho related problem. It can be loose or broken wiring connections, loose or broken tacho magnet or in rare cases a faulty control unit.

What type of motor do you have in your machine, is it the earlier GDA/Hotpoint motor or the later FHP motor?

    Right,
since last night the wife has finally won the battle, and i am sick of taking the kitchen to bits every time i need the machine out, so we have decided 10 years is enough of being on daily with kids etc, so its being recycled, and we are buying another one.
thanks for your help on here so far though, its been really good, so until i need you again, best wishes,
    pete

Just don’t buy another Hotpoint (Indesit) in fact don’t buy a washer dryer full stop unless you can run to a Miele.
