ModeratorThey are doing an article on washing machines tonight, sadly they are barking up the wrong tree. :rolls:
I don’t think there will be any mention of the Indesit or Candy exploding drums.
They are going to give Indesit stick because the machines are getting mouldy which as we all know is due to the way the machine is used and is not really an inherent ‘fault’ as such. 😕

She got her door seal replaced for £35???
Did anyone notice the detergent was a gel type, this IMO is the real cause 😀

I didn’t defend them at all.
I’ve not seen it but if it’s about the Moon which I was consulted about, it’s a crap design and I more or less said so. It’s a heap of problems waiting to start never mind the fact that it’s a crappy product IMO anyway.
Falls into that, “seemed like a good idea at the time” category. But really wasn’t.

Exact reply was…
kwatt response to BBC wrote:That’s an easy one.
It’s detergent use combined with low temperature washes as well as, I’d expect, the door not being left ajar to allow the machine to dry out. This combination provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria in the machine.
By the looks of it I’d expect that the customer pretty much uses only liquid detergent as well, you hardly need be Sherlock Holmes to work that out, there’s a tub of it beside the machine.
Hope that helps.
And, in response to a request to appear on the show…

I have little desire to have my ugly much on national TV thanks very much.

lol you obviously didn’t tell what they wanted to hear, they found someone to say what they wanted to hear. I would say indeshit have much bigger problems, ie. build quality im sure they are more than happy to get away with a couple of door gaskets. :stir: I see loads (i would say a good 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the washing machines i go to have some sort of mold in them) im sure it is getting more and more common due to everyone using cold washes. Does anyone know of good remedies to get rid of it?

not defending anyone, but to be fair they were putting the blame on the fact, which I did not know, that this machine is incapable of doing anything hotter than a 60 degree wash, and as well as the door seal mould, the dispenser mould was also a major issue, as it is on most machines the difference being that most machines dont have the dispenser in the door.
Irony of course is that 10/15 (cannot remember when exactly) years ago, I did the watchdog feature on the very same subject (mould, not Moons) and was encouraged by DASA to “pull” my filmed input for fear of litigation against me from the detergent manufacturers. Maybe that worry is behind the fact that detergent was barely given a mention last night. No doubt now, the GP will be contacting Watchdog with complaints of mould on just about every brand of washing machine, excepting of course one which does not have a door seal…….
