ParticipantPlease help, my parents cooker is not working. Its a belling cook center 112sss,ser no is 73 1 00007 2000, e.c. id no 86/as/504
The main oven is controlled by 2 switches, the first switch on the front left hand side controls oven function (fan on/off etc..)the second switch is used set the temperature.
The mode switch appears to work, however the temperature switch feels loose and its the temperature indicator light does not come on and the oven no longer heats at all. Prior to this the oven seemed to be burning food. Is it likely to be the thermostat or the switch? If so can you help with price and availability of parts?
Many thanks
Daniel

It’s possible that the thermostat has a fault, yes and that would explain the burning of food. The main oven thermostat is this one.
The fact that it’s no longer heating though could be the thermostat or, it could be an element fault. 😕
In the main oven that’s liable to be the fan oven element, which is this one.
The best advice is to get the fan element and see if it’s open circuit or not. If it’s not open circuit then chances are it’s the thermostat only that’s required.

Well what can I say, this website and all who are involved have done it again, swift and prompt response, exact part identifications, simple not over complicated advice.
Parents are ordering part in the morning.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. BEST WEBSITE OF ALL TIME.

Sadly the stat hasn’t done the trick, however whilst installing it I could test the main oven control switch, (the very left when oven is viewed from the front) it selects fan, main oven grill etc. This appears to be had it, can you give me the part number etc for this?
Thanks Daniel.

Bit of a trek to track this one down but it should be this switch.
It appears that the same switch is now used for both ovens, which is handy in many ways and that it is also used on over cookers from Creda and Hotpoint.

I am dubious about this part, as the picture only shows two wires coming from it, I appreciate I could be wrong, but the switch had about 8 wires, is this the correct switch?

And right you were to be dubious, I found it a bit odd as well when I looked but it was very confusing as to what went where, older Belling models (as well as many new ones) can have, shall we say, “interesting” parts identification. :rolls:
Anyway, I dug a bit more and found it should be this Dreefs or equivalent selector switch.
Good news, for some reason that logic escapes, it’s cheaper.
Bad news is that it’s showing as nil stock everywhere so may take a few days to arrive.

Hi Kwatt,
How long would it take you to get this item in stock?May 11, 2011 at 11:18 pm #349776kwatt
KeymasterRe: belling cook center main oven help.
Sorry, missed this.
That’s an odd one, it is now showing out of stock with everyone and their dog. 😕
I’ll see if I can find out but I can see one on order so I’m guessing it’s a factory order which is often “pin the tail on the donkey” stuff trying to get definitive answers.
The relatively low value of spares means that tracking info is often, ehm, shall we say to avoid the sweary word filters, “lacking”. Like, non-existant most often. People often think we’re kidding but, we’re not.
I’ll see what I can do though.

Thanks. My parents have ordered the part with you and have been told 3-4 weeks from 13th May. So hopefully, they will get it within the next 2 weeks.
Whilst writing, is it possible to add the bulb for the main oven to this order? I am not sure which part it is, though?May 26, 2011 at 10:35 am #349778kwatt

Hi loki,
If you mail Dave he should be able to sort that out for you. 😉
We can’t actually alter the order online as such for security reasons.
