ParticipantMorning all (and Happy Easter! 😀 )
My folks washing machine decided to start playing up yesterday – dad thought it was the brushes – so they were changed (only had about 4mm left on each). However, this hasn’t solved the problem….. 😐
Once reasembled and the programme selected and BEFORE the start button is pressed and the ready light comes on – the machine instantly starts making a noise – which apparently it shouldn’t – until you press start. Once start is pressed – nothing happens – just continues to make a “noise” and doesn’t fill with water or spin (but does drain water that is added manually).
How can I go about checking the fault codes on this model? And any idea what this could be? Control board issue?
Many thanks!

It sounds to me like either the PCB has gone or the pressure system is blocked. What you need to d is turn off the power to avoid :zap: then take off the lid and you will see (prob. On the right) a round switch with a black tube running from it down into the base. Take that off and blow down it. Also remove the switch and gently blow and suck on the end and makesure it clicks. Then put it all back together and try it. Hope this helps DJ

Thanks DJ, will have a go at that. What is that switch?
Just some further info – the noise is basically the pump running trying to drain the water…. but there is no water to drain….. adn it won’t respond to any of the controls to start/spin etc…. just (pump??) keeps running.
My dad had to turn the machine upside down to get the motor and brushes out – could that have caused this issue??
Cheers again

Never turn a machine upside down as any water in it could end up on the electrics. There is a chance that water has got on to the pcb.
You may be lucky and it just needs to dry out but the chances are that it has shorted the components on the pcb.April 24, 2011 at 3:36 pm #349945Applianceman2010

yea sounds like water has got back up into the pressure system.! The “switch” is a pressure switch, this is what is attached to the little black pipe i was on about . take it off dry it out by swinging it back and forth to get any water out of the pressure switch. Hope this helps DJ

Thanks gents – we’ll try the pressure switch and see where that takes us. Will update once we’ve had a go. Massive thanks ! 😀

Had a go at cleaning the pipe (which was blocked apparently my dad said) and cleared the switch too….. but still no joy – machine is just stuck trying to pump water.
Does it sound like the PCB is screwed? And if so, can it be replaced by a non-technician and at what cost..? 😕
Thanks everyone.

Hummm well i’m surprised that didn’t work if it were me i would replace the pressure switch as there is prob. still water stuck inside the switch ,i would be shocked if it had damaged the pcb and replacing the pressure switch is worth a punt. as its a fairly low cost part to try first 😉

bosch modules dont need smart cards…they are programmed by rocker switches with an instruction sheet…i have seen damp modules on these before…they do 2 things….either constantly fill or constantly drain…its 50/50 if the board survives a dry out with a hairdryer…..but if you keep running it then you probably have nuked the board

DOH, I’m still up in the air after United’s fantastic display tonight.
Just ignore me, I know nothing. 😳
Deleted my erroneous post. 🙂

Righto – I’m gonna pop over there tomorrow and try to do this myself – firstly have a play with the switch and secondly see if the board is wet – and dry it out (where would I find the board by the way? Behind the control panel?
Thing is, it hasn’t run constantly – at most for a minute while changing the programmes to see if it kick starts it back into life.
Not sure what you mean about smart cards…. (sorry).
Is there a way to check fault codes on these?
Cheers again everyone!
