    Make: Siemens
    Model: SE25T250GB/25 FD8404(?)

Hi All, I’ve been browsing the forums a bit and have been pretty impressed with the number of times you guys seem to be able to help people out with their issues.

Just this morning I took delivery of my new Siemens dishwasher. I got the machine connected up, following the instructions, everything appeared to be OK.

I connected up all the bits and bobs and put the machine through a pre-wash cycle, which went perfectly. I then put about a half load of dishes and glasses in the machine and put it on an auto wash.

After about half an hour I went out to the shop round the corner and when I got back the machine appeared to be totally dead. When I opened the door the bottom of the machine was swimming in water, and it looekd quite cloudy as if there was still a lot of detergent in it.

I bailed out as much water as I could – reckon I took out easily about 4 litres, cleaned out the three filters, took the pump cover off, checked for anything obviously blocking it – no sign of anything. Reassembled everything and tried again – still dead as a very dead thing.

The machine has an aquastop doohickey on the inlet hose so I made sure the machine was off at the mains, disconnected the inlet pipe, reconnected it, switched on the water and then switched on the power. Still dead.

Checked the plug fuse – all OK. The washing machine on the same circuit has power fine.

No response at all when the power button is cycled, except about one time in every 7 or 8 I can hear it trying to do something and can feel a little movement in the water inlet pipe as if it’s trying to pressureise.

I’ve spoken to the supplier (Comet direct sales) who have been less than helpful – they may be able to authorise a replacement but won’t be able to get back to me until Monday and the earliest they can get an engineer out here is next Saturday which I am less than happy about.

So, after that ramble, anybody got any suggestions I can try out before Comet get back to me? Obviously I don’t want to go taking anything apart. I’ve rocked the machine back and forth, rechecked all the connections and whatnot, just no joy.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    hi steve
All you can do is check water in (ie tap still on) and that the waite pipe attachment if it pushes on to a pipe under the sink, is cut off,.
When new the waiste connector has a blank end on it this must be cut of before use other wise the d/w cant pump out and may over fill.
I would not try anything else if its that new, because you will void the warantee just by removing the side ect.
Swap the w/m and the d/w plugs over and try the w/m as sometimes on a dual sockets one side works and the other does not. 😉
    hope this helps you

    Steve,

The only thing you can try is to carry out a ‘Programme Reset’. The instruction booklet will show you how that is done. (I assume there is power to the machine?)

Failing that I’m afraid you will have to get a replacement machine as it could be an internal fault 🙁

    Hey Streetlighter and Martin…

    Nah, still dead 🙁

I’ve tried different mains sockets for it, still nothing. It certainly was draining out OK to begin with – it was fine doing a prewash when I first plumbed it in to rinse out any gunk.

As I say, I’ve removed the pump cover like it explains in the user guide and made sure the impeller can move OK. I’ve tried changing the connection that the inlet pipe/aquastop was connected to but still no change.

The weird thing is that occasionally if I hit the power switch it *tries* to do something because there is a *clunk* and you can see/feel/hear the cold fill pipe momentarily pressurising. Neither of the displays show anything at all now, and because I don’t think it’s getting any power to the control panel I can’t do a reset as described in the guide.

Ach well, thanks anyway guys, guess I’ll wait to see what Comet have to say about it on Monday – I want it replaced under the terms of their DOA clause and don’t really want to have to wait ’til next Saturday for someone to come out and look at it and go ‘aye, its knackered mate’.

    Cheers

    Hi again guys

Ok so after several phonecalls and some feet stamping Comet have agreed to replace the faulty dishwasher. The replacement is arriving on Saturday morning – they could’ve got it to me tomorrow but it was a bit short notice to get time off work just now.

Fingers crossed that all is fine with this one!

    Keep up the good work!
    Cheers

    Steve
